Bungiehas seen a pretty massive resurgence of success forDestiny 2following it’s split from its Activision partnership. Bungie has a lot on its plate for the future as the company focuses onDestiny 2’s next generation detailsand what they mean for players using current hardware to play.
For now though, Bungie is addressing the current state of the game through its weekly “The Week at Bungie” blog posts, detailing changes coming to the game andDestiny 2’s community. However, this week’s post ended with the news thatBungie’s longtime Community Manager DeeJ would be leaving on November 6.

Anyone who followsDestiny 2closely knows that the community surrounding the game is incredibly important to the team at Bungie. This year’sBungie Day celebration on Twitterwas a testament to that sentiment, and the mutual respect that fans and Bungie staff members have for each other. One of the leaders of theDestiny 2community is Bungie’s own Community Manager DeeJ, who was been with the company since June 12, 2025. Unfortunately, DeeJ announced at his departure from Bungie next month at the end of the October 15 edition of “This Week at Bungie.”
Following details surroundingDestiny 2’s Festival of Light rewardsand various fan projects surroundingDestiny 2, DeeJ ended the blog post with the announcement. DeeJ’s statement is very personal and shows just how much his position and the Destiny community means to him. He also touches on how much the team at Bungie has done for him, saying that “whoever warned that you should never meet your heroes didn’t have the chance to work in a place like this.”
For those invested in Bungie andDestiny 2, DeeJ’s farewell letter is well worth the read. However, it’s important to note that DeeJ assures he won’t disappear completely when November 7 rolls around. He makes a point to mention thatDestiny 2’s Beyond Lightis an experience that he and the community will share together. While DeeJ says he will be around in the weeks leading up to the expansion’s launch on November 10, he will fade back into his role as a simple fan ofDestiny 2shortly after.
It’s a bittersweet farewell to be sure, as DeeJ has been a valuable member of Bungie’s team and theDestiny 2community for almost a decade. However, it seems that he already has the next step in his professional journey lined up, which is reassuring to hear. As forDestiny 2, Bungie still has plenty of new content on the horizon with theend of the Season of Arrivalsfast approaching. Regardless, whoever is next in line asBungie’s Community Manager has quite the role to fill.
