Both accessories will be sold exclusively through the PlayStation Direct storefront in every target market except Canada, where Sony will also use third-party retailers for distribution. Pre-orders for the limited-edition LeBron James PS5 cover and DualSense controller are scheduled to begin on Thursday, June 29.
Sony said that the incoming products have been inspired by LeBron James’s illustrious career and his love for video games. This design philosophy is underlined by the fact that the athlete’s iconic “nothing is given, everything is earned” quote features prominently on both the console cover and thelimited-edition DualSense controller for the PS5. As for how limited these accessories will actually be, the Japanese gaming giant hasn’t disclosed the exact size of the series, having simply said that the cover and its accompanying DualSense controller will be available while supplies last.
These accessories mark the NBA athlete’s second Sony collaboration in less than a year, seeing howLeBron James already starred in a humorousGod of War Ragnarokcommerciallast fall. And while it remains to be seen whether the LA Lakers star will continue adding to his growing track record in gaming, what’s certain is that Sony will be revealing more PlayStation Playmakers collaborations in the coming months.
