Every installment in theJohn Wickseries seems to top the last, and reportedly this time is no different. The upcomingJohn Wick: Chapter 4will be the longest film in the Keanu Reeves series.
John Wick: Chapter 4completed principal photography in 2021 with an impressive variety of locations, having filmed in Berlin, Paris, New York City, and somewhere in Japan.Reeves returns as master assassin John Wick, as does Laurence Fishburne as the underground crime boss The Bowery King.

In an interview with Collider,director Chad Stahelskirevealed thatJohn Wick: Chapter 4will be “longer than the other three, but not that long.” Exactly how long will the film be? Stahelski didn’t say, but the originalJohn Wickclocked in at 101 minutes,John Wick: Chapter 2at 122 minutes, andJohn Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellumat 131. That means that the upcoming sequel will be at least 2 hours and 11 minutes, but probably not much longer. Stahelski went on to say that the film is currently being edited and is nearing picture lock, meaning the video editing is almost complete. “There’s probably another few weeks of tweaking overall,” the director says, and then they’ll start adding the music and sound effects. “We love the music that we’ve got so far. We still have Tyler Bates doing the composition on some of the bigger sequences.”
While each film in the series gets longer, it also gets bigger in terms of budget and box office. The first film cost a meager $20-30 million and grossed $86 million, a good return. The second film turned this up a notch, with a $40 million budget and an impressive $171 million gross. The third cost an even larger $75 million and raked in a staggering $372 million. Although there’s no word yet onJohn Wick: Chapter 4’s budget, distributor Lionsgate Films seems to have upped the ante once again, and is undoubtedly hoping for another big hit.
Hoping to help with that are the new faces in the cast, who show thatthe action inJohn Wick 4is likely going to be bigger and wilder too. These stars include the Hong Kong martial arts legend Donnie Yen (Ip Man,XXX: Return of Xander Cage), Bill Skarsgård (It,Eternals), Hiroyuki Sanada (The Last Samurai,Mortal Kombat,Bullet Train) Scott Adkins (The Expendables 2,The Bourne Ultimatum), Clancy Brown (Thor: Ragnarok,Starship Troopers), and Shamier Anderson (Wynonna Earp,Invasion).
Details about the plot of the upcoming film have not been released, but aJohn Wick 4teaser from last monthpromises more of the series’ trademark intense action, as John Wick now appears to be hunted by nearly every assassin on the planet.
John Wick: Chapter 4is scheduled to release in theaters on July 12, 2025.
