Yuji Itadori is one of the most incredible sorcerers in the world ofJJKand fans are incredibly excited to see him fight at the peak of his abilities as the battle against Sukuna rages on.After the death of Gojo, it was obvious to the fans that Yuji would have to fight against Sukuna at some point and, as this incredible battle continues, fans will inevitably get to see more of Yuji showing his new abilities.
In the previous chapter of JJK, one such ability of Yuji has now been confirmed and that is his ability to capture souls. Yuji’s soul capture will most likely be pivotal in his battle against Sukuna and it will explain why he is as dangerous as he is at the moment.
Yuji Vs Sukuna
Yuji versus Sukuna began immediately after the battle against Gojo concluded and Kashimo, who stepped in after, was decimated by the strongest sorcerer. Yuji jumped into the battle alongside Higuruma. The two were also backed up by Ino and, at the same time, Kusakabe. This four versus one battle did not even faze Sukuna and it was quite easy for him to deal with their threat. Sukuna was, as many fans expected, comfortable in battle at the time. Even though the likes ofHiguruma posed quite a lot of trouble for him, eventually, it all amounted to nothing as Sukuna ended up killing Higuruma and Yuji, who tried to fight back, was swatted down as well.
While Yuji was, quite apparently, weak, when compared to Sukuna, there is one thing that he was superior in and that was his indomitable will. This aspect of Yuji’s character was admired by Sukuna himself and it is the only thing that he has been acknowledged by the King of Curses. Sukuna himself knows that Yuji possesses a champion’s soul and he never lets his spirit break, no matter what. That is why Sukuna has made it his goal to break Yuji down and as a result, this fight is already set up to be incredible.
At the same time, fans also know that this fight, which is now continuing, will give Yuji the platform to demonstrate his amazing abilities as it already has. In JJK chapter 249, as Yuta joined the battle and expanded his domain, Sukuna confirmed an incredible ability that Yuji possesses up his sleeve, and this ability is called Soul Capture. According to Sukuna, this ability is what he has to truly watch out for as, given the opportunity, Yuji can prove to be deadly against him and utterly destroy his entire plan.
Yuji’s Secret Soul Capture Ability
Yuji’s Soul Capture ability was first mentioned inJJKchapter 249. However, his abilities to alter souls isn’t something that fans are new to. In the battle against Mahito, it was quite clear that Yuji possessed the power to completely touch his soul and destroy him from the inside. This is why Yuji was one of the few who could actually take him on in battle and defeat him. His abilities were also somewhat similar to Nobara’s Resonance, who could also deal damage to the soul. Yuji always possessed this incredible ability, however, fans weren’t quite sure where it came from. Although not much has changed in that regard, now, this ability has been acknowledged by the King of Curses as well.
In the ongoing battle, fans know that Yuta is the one who’s currently at the forefront of things. In the previous chapter, Yuta expanded his domain against Sukuna, and this domain, called authentic mutual love, is one that even Sukuna finds quite troublesome to deal with. Essentially, in this domain, Yuta can utilize as many copied abilities as he wants indefinitely and, with that, he can create many openings for Yuji to strike. The plan that these two have come up with isfor Yuta to utilize his abilities to keep Sukuna busyand then, pave the way for Yuji to deal the deadly blow.
This deadly blow that Yuji will launch at Sukuna has the ability to rip souls apart. Essentially, Yuji will be able to capture Sukuna’s soul and separate it from Megumi’s body. Fans know that Sukuna has taken over Megumi’s body and is using it as a vessel to reincarnate himself.
Yuji will essentially be able to separate the body from the soul and, as a result, not only will he be able to destroy Sukuna, but he will also be able to save Megumi’s life. This is essentially Yuji’s soul capture ability which even Sukuna spoke very highly of in the previous chapter.
This is easier said than done, however. Fans know that Sukuna is a very difficult individual to take on in battle. Even though he’s weakened at the moment, one can never count out the King of Curses. This is even truer at the moment because as Yuta mentioned, his RCT is returning slowly and, more importantly, his ability to utilize his domain expansion is coming back to him as well. Once that happens, for Yuji to even land a blow at him is going to be incredibly difficult.
Yuji’s Soul Capture Vs Sukuna
While Yuji will have to wait patiently for his opportunity to come in order to utilize the soul capture ability on Sukuna, it isn’t something that fans haven’t seen already. When Yuji jumped into battle against Sukuna, he launched a powerful strike at him which shook him to his very core. At that time, Sukuna was not quite aware of what was happening. What fans saw was Yuji striking Sukuna with quite a lot of power and him blocking it with all his hands. Despite this block, Sukuna’s entire body was seen vibrating. Many fans assumed that this was simply down to the fact that Yuji had quite a lot of physical strength. However, the real reason why Sukuna shook as he did was because Yuji was actually hitting his soul and not his body.
Essentially, Yuji can hit the soul with every strike of his hand, of course, he likely has some ultimate technique saved up his sleeve using which he believes that he can separate Sukuna’s soul from Megumi’s body. This is likely what he’s saving for the perfect moment and when Yuta gives him the chance,he would likely launch this strike at the King of Curses, effectively saving his friend. Of course, that doesn’t mean that Yuji is going to do nothing in the fight until that big moment. His smallest strikes that Sukuna has to block are also deadly, given that they do hit the soul and deal damage. In fact, it is possible that Yuji’s attacks, even if blocked, deal damage to the soul and, for that reason, Sukuna will be up against even more trouble.
Whether Yuji isable to land attacks on Sukunaor not, the good thing here is that there is finally a strategy to take down Sukuna, and all Yuji needs to do is to chip away at the defense of the King of Curses and, ultimately, take him down in one fell swoop. Whether this will work or not is something that fans will have to wait and see for themselves.
