Injusticehas got a new Red Band trailer that brings the violence in the upcomingDCComics animated movie, which is based on the popular fighting game series of the same name.Injusticefollows a civil war between the Justice League as they each pick a side between Batman and Superman.
TheDCstory takes place in an alternate reality where Joker kills Superman’s wife Lois Lane and their unborn child, which causes him to spiral out in a fit of rage and kill the Joker before enacting justice around the world.Superman doesn’t think these villainsdeserved to just be “locked up” until they inevitably break out again, so he throws away his old values of not killing and being a symbol of hope in place of being a leader in a new world under martial law.

Batman evidently still believes not to killand understands Superman’s reasoning, that is until he sees the boy scout Kryptonian start to spiral down a bad path to a point of no return where he’s killing left and right. Batman begins to enact a plan to go against Superman by assembling an army of heroes, while Superman does the same. Some of the heroes join the Man of Steel out of fear for their life, as he’s the strongest being on the planet.
TheInjusticetrailer shows Superman doing his best impression of Homelander fromAmazon’sThe Boys,but the video game on which the movie is based was actually released all the way back in 2013, which is nearing almost a decade ago from today. TheInjusticefilm looks to chronicle the events that occurred before the first game, which is how this alternate reality got to the point where it did.
The firstInjusticegame begins with this alternate version of Batman recruiting the original timeline’s heroes to bring them in for backup, as many heroes' lives have been lost or even ended up joining Superman. The film will be very violent, which seems to be the new wave for superhero projects as of late, where the films have been very much the opposite of campy or lighthearted.The Boys,Amazon Prime Video’sInvincible,andUmbrella Academy(to name a few) are all darker takes on the superhero world.
Though it’s not to say that lighthearted films are overdone. There just needs to be a balance is all, and there’s a market for both. Many corporations think there’s only one way to do things when in reality art is subjective, so there will always be somebody who likes it.
Injusticewill be released on Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital on October 19th, 2021.
