Ever since Nintendo and Game Freak released the firstPokemontitles back in 1996, many fans of the series have speculated how the older games could’ve looked with today’s technology. Recently, one Pokemon fan anticipating the launch ofPokemon Scarlet and Violethas created a concept video showing what the Nintendo Switch title might have looked like usingPokemon Red and Blueconcept artin its open world.
Twitter user Pokeyugami recently posted a video in the style of the concept art used forPokemon Red and Bluethat shares some similarities with anotherPokemonvideo they made but is centered onPokemon Scarlet and Violet. Taking some cues from the existingPokemon Scarlet and Violettrailers, Pokeyugami has included revealed Gen 9 Pokemon like Fuecoco, Smoliv, and Sprigatito. Just like their last video, Pokeyugami’sPokemon Scarlet and Violetvideo also shows the Gen 1 version of Pikachu interacting with one Smoliv, while another Smoliv stands alone in the field.

Pokeyugami’sPokemon Scarlet and Violetclip begins by showing a schoolboyPokemontrainer that resembles the one teased in thePokemon Scarlet and Violettrailers. The Pokemon trainer stands in front of an ocean next to their chosen starter Pokemon Fuecoco while tossing a Poke Ball up and down in a region that looks remarkably similar to the landscape ofPokemon Scarlet and Violet. The user interface appears in Pokeyugami’s video as thePokemontrainer embarks on their journey, showing the bag, town map, and Pokedex in one corner and important items in the other, just likePokemon Legends: Arceus.
As Pokeyugami’sPokemon Scarlet and Violetclip proceeds, the two aforementioned Smoliv and solo Pikachu come into view near some tall grass. Pokeyugami zooms the camera in to view one Smoliv appearing rather grumpy before turning to observe the Gen 1 Pikachu interacting with the other Smoliv. Immediately after passing these Pokemon, Pokeyugami happens upon another trainer that’s seemingly thePokemon Scarlet and Violetrival or friend, given their choice ofstarter Pokemonbeing Sprigatito.
WhilePokemonfans continue to express their enthusiasm for Pokeyugami’s previousPokemonproject, others that are anticipating the release ofPokemon Scarlet and Violetapplaud the different aesthetics. Some long-timePokemonfans noted similarities between Pokeyugami’s trainer and early bug catcher designs, showing the same blue clothes and a similar hat. However, given thecustomization ofPokemon Scarlet and Violet, Pokeyugami’s trainer may be able to change their wardrobe. The companion Fuecoco of Pokeyugami’s concept video has garnered a lot of attention from Pokeyugami’s community as well, with most admiring its fast waddle.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violetrelease for Nintendo Switch on November 18.
