The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomfeatures a vast amount of side content for Link to explore while taking a break from his search for Zelda. While taking advantage of the freedomTears of the Kingdomprovides, Link will encounter hitchhiking Koroks, fashion-forward Hylians, and even a seemingly clairvoyant Cucco. No matter where he is in Hyrule, Link will find a new adventure to keep him occupied.

This guide will focus on Link’s encounter with a talking Cucco that seems to know a little too much about his past. Meeting the Cucco is part of a small side-adventure called “All-Clucking Cucco,” which itself is part of a larger chain of quests that task Link withinvestigating sightings of Princess Zelda.

How to Begin All-Clucking Cucco in Tears of the Kingdom

Because “All-Clucking Cucco” is part of the “Potential Princess Sightings” line of quests, Link should first visit Penn and Traysi at the Lucky Clover Gazette (-3258, 1764, 0119). This can be found in the Hebra region, directly east of Rito Village. Here,Link and Penn will be sent to nearly every stablein Hyrule, looking into various rumors for the paper. Completing “All-Clucking Cucco” will count towards this series of missions.

With “Potential Princess Sightings” active, Link should travel to the South Akkala Sable (3133, 1694, 0201), which is found in the southwestern portion of the Akkala Highlands. Players can see the above image for the exact location.

Link will find Penn, the Rito reporter he met at Lookout Landing and the Lucky Clover Gazette building, behind the stable in the sheep pen. Players will find Penn contemplating a prophecy and should speak with him to begin “All-Clucking Cucco.”

Where to Find the Prophetic Cucco

Penn tells Link that there are no new leads in the area. He has looked everywhere, and nothing has cropped up. In his mind, the only solution to this situation is to consult a prophecy. Penn informs Link that there is a Cucco in the area that shares prophetic visions.

Penn directs Link to a nearby tree, where he says people often line up to speak with this prophetic Cucco. As Link approaches the tree, he’ll come across several travelers interested in the Cucco as well. The only one Link must speak with is Lonni, who is at the front of the line. She will allow Link to go ahead.

When Link speaks with the Cucco, he will be amazed to hear that it knows his name and that he seeks Princess Zelda. He then tells Link that he will reveal more if he completes a series of trials. If Link agrees, the trials will begin immediately.

How to Complete the Cucco’s Trials

Trial One: Reach the Top

The first trial requires Link to reach the very top of the Horse-God statue on top of the stable. Link has 45 seconds to complete the task.

Players have several options here, including simply climbing the front of the tent, then using Ascend through the bottom of the Horse-God’s head. Another quick method is fusing a rocket to a shield, but that will require Link to have thecorrect Zonai capsule on hand.

Trial Two: Three Logs

To complete this incredibly simple task, Link can head to the small wooded area near the stable, cut down three trees, then bring them back to the Cucco. Link has one minute and thirty seconds to complete this trial.

The best way to do this is touse Ultrahand to fuse the logs together. However, instead of doing it like a raft, players should fuse at least two of the logs together end to end. This will make it easier to get them up the hill with Ultrahand.

After finishing the second trial, the Cucco will automatically summon Link back to share a special message with him.

How to Finish “All-Clucking Cuckoo” in Tears of the Kingdom

In what is perhaps the least-shocking plot twist in the history of Hyrule, the Cucco points out the absurdity of the entire situation and ridicules Link for believing that a Cucco could possibly talk. It is then revealed that the Cucco was nothing more than a disguise for the Yiga clan.

Link must take out three Yiga Footsoldiers, which do not pose much of a threat if Link remains patient. Players should watch for the Yiga disappearing act. If any of them disappear into a cloud of smoke, they should make sure to side-step immediately as they are likely coming directly overhead.

Once the Yiga are dealt with, Penn will come in to discuss Link’s pay. This will vary depending on how many rumors Link has reported on. Link will eventually receive the entire Froggy armor set by completing these missions. With this mission done, Link can continue by looking for Penn at just about every stable in Hyrule.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomis available now on Nintendo Switch.
