FormSoftware delivered a complete masterpiece of story, lore, gameplay, challenge, and depth, placing itself at the pinnacle of Souls-like games. The action RPG takes place in a tattered world where the dead have returned to take part in a shifting of powers between the old gods and the new. Players trek across the lands between and slay, barter, and discover the secrets of the realm in an attempt to increase their power to prepare themselves to face the all-powerful.
The massive open-world ofElden Ringis a perilous entropy with dismal threats at every turn, where one false step could spell disaster and cut a player’s journey off at the knee. Each kingdom, burrow, and village possesses mystic wonders and lethal enemies, and the player must have a quick wit to discern which is which. Among thecountless areas inElden Ring, there are some locations that make the bosses of the game feel like a walk in the park, and some are a lot more challenging to get through than others.
7Sellia Crystal Tunnel
The Sellia Crystal Tunnel is one of the hardest and earliest areas players can reach as soon as they begin the game. By chance, should players make it past the Tree Sentinel and explore the outer rims of the Limgrave starting area, they’ll come across the Dragon Burnt Ruins.
Beneath the chard rubble and past the small horde of monsters will be an underground crypt where a chest will be awaiting players in search of an early game edge. Unfortunately, all this chest will do is teleport the player to a begrudgingly difficult area surrounded by insectoid enemies that will pelt the player with projectiles.
6Nokron, The Eternal City
Nokron is an underground area that can be reached one of two ways, either by way of Waygate or via the crater left after defeating Radahn.
Upon entering Nokron, players will be taken aback by the sheer size of the area and the beauty of the nearly perfect night encompassing the biome. However, players will quickly be alerted to the deathly threat that resides in Nokron, which will leave them scrambling as they dive deeper and deeper into the submerged metropolis.
5Liurnia Of The Lakes
Found north of Limgrave is one of the most treacherous areas inElden Ringdue to the various different threats found in the location. Liurnia is the home of the Lucaria Academy, a school of visceral mages who have perfected their mage craft and will seek to destroy all trespassers with great vigor and precision.
Even on the outskirts of the college lie dismal thralls such as Fingercreepers, members of the Night Calvary, and Giant Crabs. The seemingly peaceful aura of this location can lower the tension of many players and catch them off guard whena Glintstone Dragonflies in out of nowhere.
4Atlus Plateau
The Atlus Platea is one of the high-caliber challenges ofElden Ringthat not all players will make it through, and it is the first and last step taken to reach the Capital City. The Atlus Plateau possesses just as many dangers as it does secrets and can grant players more power or a quick demise.
Monsters of all sorts reside on the trail to the Capital Outskirts, with mobs of Godricks forces and stray hounds that skulk the lands searching for prey. Many players who have braved the road to the capital call it the road where the real game begins.
3Leyndell, Royal Capital
Once players reach the Royal Capital, they are in for an even tougher journey as they venture deep into the heart of The Lands Between and challenge some of the mightiest foes that walk the planes. This once great kingdom now looks like a phantom of its former self, with the light drained from the stone towers and a much more menacing presence radiating from the empty streets.
There is little to no safety here as nearly everything will be driven to rid the player from existence. There are also some ofthe most challenging bossesin the game in this area, such asMohg, The Omen, and Ulcerated Tree Spirit.
2Mountaintops Of The Giants
The cold and jagged ground of the Mountaintops as players finally reach the last half ofElden Ringserves as an uphill battle to prove the player’s right to stand before the final challenges the game has to offer.
Traveling through the uneven and snowy layered peaks is no easy task, especially with Knights of Zamor skulking about. Even players who have armed themselves with the best weapons and armor possible by this point will still findfighting the Fire Gianta daunting task.
1Caelid
Caelid is the valley of red death, once filled with great green lands, turned into a desolate crater of decay and rot by the cataclysmic battle between Starforged Radahn and the Blade of Miquella, Malenia.
Some of the most grotesque and dangerous enemies survive here, and perhaps one of the first true tests for a player depending on when they head in the direction of the rot-stained keep. Everything in this area is designed to kill the player, even the ground they walk on.
