With the release ofHalo Infinitejust over a month away, various fans of the series are getting to experience the newestHaloinstallment to its fullest potential. Over the last year especially, many new gameplay and cosmetic features forHalo Infinitehave been announced. Although, it seems that one feature that has been featured prominently in several other major titles won’t be making an appearance in the upcoming game.
As online competitive multiplayer gaming has become more and more streamlined, developers have added a number of user interactive abilities as a way for players to express themselves. The most common of which being dance animations. Games likeFortnite, Destiny, and evenUncharted 4feature dance animationsas a way of non-verbally expressing oneself during gameplay. However, in the case ofHalo Infinite, dancing won’t be featured at all during multiplayer gameplay.

In a recent IGN interview with Jerry Hook, the head of design forHalo Infinite, it was revealed that dancing emotes would not be featured inHalo Infinite’sBattle Pass. According to Hook, many traditional players would likely feel it uncharacteristic of an iconic character such as theMaster Chief or Spartan soldiersin general to be flossing or participating in whatever other common dance emote.
While this may be discouraging for some new players, this decision makes a lot of sense.Halois the oldest Xbox franchise of all time and is revered by many in the gaming community. The Master Chief has gone through many evolutionary changesover the course of the last two decades, but has also remained a very serious character. To have him flossing or dancing in general would be atypical to say the least.
For many in the gaming community, the prospect of finally playing modernized, next-genHalogame is certainly exciting. The last mainlineHalogame to release in the past several years wasHalo 5: Guardians. Though, sadly, there isn’ta PC port ofHalo 5and likely never will be. Thus, it’s good thatHalo Infinitewill release on a multitude of platforms in addition to next-gen systems.
It will be interesting to see whatHalo Infinitewill look like as a finished product. Many players have already had a chance to play throughHalo Infinite’smultiplayer, but many details regarding the single player campaign have yet to be unveiled. Luckily, the game’s release date is rapidly approaching and it won’t be long until players will finally be able to sink their teeth intoHalo Infinite.
