Grand Theft Auto Online has really grown over the years. The original experience dropped in 2013, so Rockstar has had 8 long years to develop and improve the multiplayer world. Thankfully, they’ve done just that, by cranking out consistent amounts of content with subsequent updates, including some interesting DLC packs and a healthy amount of new heists for players to conquer. Dedicated playerswill also find new vehicles, skins, clothing items, and even guns.

One of the most interesting guns to drop recently wasthe Musket, a powerful rifle capable of decimating enemies. It looks cool, sounds cool, and is a fine addition to the hectic world of GTA Online. Showing up with theIndependence Day Special in 2014, theMusket is a “collector’s item” for a lot of GTA Online fans. But exactly where does this powerful weapon come from and how can one get their hands on it?
How To Get The Musket
Grabbing the Musket in the base game, Grand Theft Auto V, is pretty simple. In the Original Version of the game, it could be snagged by simply downloading the appropriate DLC. In the enhanced version, once players complete the Mr. Richard’s mission, they can grab the Musketfrom Ammu-Nationfor $21,400.

Players looking to carry the rifle into their battles in GTA Online can also grab it from Ammu-Nation, albeit with one frustrating setback. The Musket is only available for purchase on Independence Day every year. That means players willneed to be sure to grab it on July 4thif they want access to it. Thankfully, once the Musket is purchased, they’ll have access to it permanently, at any time. This makes the timed exclusive a “badge of honor” for a lot of dedicated GTA Online players.
Is The Musket Any Good?
In short, the Musket is about as good as one would expect an old-world weapon to be. Compared to the incredibly modernized guns available to players in Grand Theft Auto Online, it’s hard to recommend the Musket as a primary weapon in most situations. It’s loud, slow, and worst of all, takes a painfully long time to reload. There are much better options available to players who are looking todish out a lot of damage as quickly as possible. The Musket is better used for fun, or to demoralize foes (just don’t miss!).
Outside of that recommendation, here’s a better look at the Musket’s actual stats on paper.

1.567
165
4.56 seconds
250 Meters (820 Feet)
Single Ball Round
With a horrible 4.5 second reload time, missing a shot with the Musket is a death sentence for most players. It’s a barrel-loaded weapon, meaning gamers will only get one well-placed shot before needing to undergo a lengthy reload process. In a tense firefight, those seconds will feel like a lifetime.
That said, the Musket does pack quite the punch. It has a fairly good range and damage numbers that hold up with some of the best weapons available in GTA Online. It’ll make quick work of most players and enemies, so it can be a pretty fun and rewarding rifle for those looking for a bit of a challenge.
