Even before Rockstar announced the game was in development, fans had been eagerly anticipatingGrand Theft Auto 6, though it’s likely still a good couple of years away. With the fifth installment in the long-running series beingone of the highest-grossing video games of the last decade, no doubt many will be wondering how the studio will topGTA 5. With the next entry underway, rumors and leaks have been bombarding the gaming sphere, and one such nugget of information suggests there’s going to be some news soon.
That’s according to a report from Dexerto, which cites a GTAForums post by industry insider Tez2. Apparently, Rockstar could make some sort of announcement regardingGrand Theft Auto 6, and it could all be in relation to a mysterious screenshot. The insider says there’s a “high chance” the developer could come forward with something on October 23, just shy of Halloween.

For those who don’t recall, last year fans noticed what they suspected was aGrand Theft Auto 6screenshot hidden inGTA Trilogy. It shows a photograph of an unknown house, next to which can be seen a UFO hovering nearby. Whether this is from the upcoming game cannot be certain, but it hasn’t stopped fans from trying to decipher the mystery. What’s interesting is the image was found in the Lil’ Probe’Inn, a UFO-themed bar in San Andreas.
According to Tez2,GTA Onlinemay start to feature UFOs, which will lead to Rockstar mentioning these alien spacecrafts in a post on Twitter. It’s been suggested that this social media post could contain a hint about when fans might expect aGTA 6announcement. Tez2 gives the example of a photo with perhaps a mention of “tropical storms in two days,” which would be the expected announcement date.
Tez2 is well known for leaking a lot of information about theGTAgames. For example, at the start of January, they suggested thatRockstar would announce its next game in 2022. Sure enough, the following month,Grand Theft Auto 6was officially revealed to be in development. Of course, that doesn’t mean this new information is going to come to fruition, so best to hold off judgment for now. Having said that, it’s worth keeping an eye on this supposed UFO development inGTA Online, which could lead to aGTA 6tease.
It’s also been rumored thatGrand Theft Auto 6was going to be much more ambitious, but has apparently been scaled back a bit. Currently, it’s believed that the game could be a reimagining of Vice City as seen in the 2002 entry of the same name and could also feature a female protagonist with a lean towards a Bonnie and Clyde-inspired story. However, these are only rumors at the moment.
