The user shared a post on theGod of Warsubreddit that sparked the discussion. The post is a meme and contains two images; the first one shows the cover art where Kratos is wearing the iconic fur cape, and the second picture is of a frustrated man. The core idea of the meme is to criticize the developers for showing the fur cape and not letting it be a part ofKratos inGod of War Ragnarok. Many users pointed out that the cape is present for the first few minutes of the game before it is never seen again inGod of War Ragnarok. These fans said that the developers shouldn’t have shown Kratos in a fur cape in the first place if they intended to remove it later.
One informative user who had watched a podcast from a member of Santa Monica Studio’s art direction team put forward a reasonable explanation. They pointed out that Kratos’s cape inGod of War Ragnarokwas incredibly hard to animate, particularly the parts where he takes out his weapons, which is why the developers removed the fur cape entirely. Meanwhile, one user shared a video of aGod of War Ragnarokmod that gives the fur cape to Kratos.
Fans took advantage of V1V1S3CT10N’s and discussed other flaws they don’t like inGod of War Ragnarok. As expected, only a few concerns were put forward, but someGod of War Ragnarokgamers were disappointed by the lack of a bare-handed skills tree. Unlike its predecessor,God of War Ragnarokhas five skill trees overall, two for companions and then three for each of the weapons Kratos ultimately has access to.
