Sony is hosting a special PlayStation Showcase eventon Wednesday, May 24 at 1 pm PT, giving users a glimpse at new titles coming to PS5 and PS VR2. The presentation will be a bit over an hour long, and it will feature games from Sony’s first-party studios, third-party partners, and indie creators. Rumors about the contents of this showcase have been going around for a while now, with a new leak suggesting that two AAA will not get featured at the event. Assuming this rumor is true, it offers some bad news for fans ofGhost of Tsushima.

As reported by Push Square, and originally revealed by Jeff Grubb, a sequel toGhost of Tsushimawill not be a part of the PlayStation Showcase event next week. Jeff talked about this news at a podcast, confirming thatDragon Age: Dreadwolfwill also not be a part of the showcase. Jeff Grubb has proven to be correct in the past, but players should take every leak or rumor with a grain of salt, and wait for an official announcement from the development team.
Ghost of Tsushimawas a success for PlayStation, selling over 8 million copies by January 2022. It’s common for a successful new IP to get a sequel after a few years, allowing the development team to work on the criticism received for the original game and make improvements across the board. Even though it has been around three years since the release ofGhost of Tsushima, Sony has not shared any details about a sequel to the game.
Some fans probably expected to hear about Sucker Punch Productions’ next game at the PlayStation Showcase, but even if the studio is a part of the event, it doesn’t seem like aGhost of Tsushimasequel announcement is on the cards. Regardless, Sony will reveal a ton of games from both first-party and third-party studios at the showcase, with newfootage fromMarvel’s Spider-Man2expected to be the big centerpiece.
