Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut Update Adds Horizon Forbidden West Easter Egg

As a new IP produced by Sucker Punch Studios, the developer behind theInfamousandSly Cooperfranchises,Ghosts of Tsushimaproved to be a critical and commercial success. Selling over eight million copies as of January 2022,Ghosts of Tsushimais a PlayStation exclusive that offers open-world exploration, a well-received narrative, and novel combat experiences. Its popularity proved to be widespread, as there are already rumors of aGhosts of Tsushimafilmin the works and Sucker Punchreleased a director’s cut for those who wished to play the game on the PS5.

BothGhosts of TsushimaandHorizon: Zero Dawnare two of the most well-received Sony exclusives in recent memory, and so it makes sense that the games may include a nod to one another. Now,Ghosts of Tsushimahas implemented an Easter egg inspired byHorizon: Zero Dawn,with the latter game’ssequelHorizon: Forbidden Westbeing just over a week away from release. With a new map, story, and more forHorizon: Forbidden Westfans to get excited about, theGhosts of TsushimaEaster egg seems a reminder that the game is so close to being available.

Announced on the Sucker Punch Studios official Twitter account, the new patch accordingly repairs a Wind Shrine located to the north of Iki island in theGhosts of Tsushimamap. If players are able to solve a puzzle there, they will earn some Aloy inspired gear including the iconic outfit seen inHorizon: Zero Dawn’sinitial marketing. For players to get their hands on this piece of gear though, they will need to have the Iki Island expansion downloaded, though this expansion is included in the Director’s Cut ofGhosts of Tsushima.

The tweet also includes a wholesome message from Sucker Punch Studios to fellow developer Guerilla Games, stating “we are so excited for Horizon Forbidden West from our friends at @Guerrilla!” Alongside theHorizon Forbidden WestEaster egg included in the patch, patch 2.15 forGhosts of Tsushimaalso adds a new Platinum difficulty option for survival inGhosts of TsushimaLegends, as well as fixing some stuttering problems that occurred during gameplay.

BothGhosts of TsushimaandHorizon Forbidden Westare story-rich, open-world experiences that have cemented themselves as some of Sony’s most celebrated first-party games, so this Easter egg is fitting, especially withForbidden Westright around the corner.
