Genshin Impactupdates always bring loads of new content including new playable characters, monsters and regions to explore. Each update usually lasts for approximately 45 days, and it’s divided between two banner cycles which bring limited characters and weapons.
The currentGenshin ImpactVersion 2.6 has brought a new character Ayato along with two banner re-runs featuring Venti and Ayaka. According to a couple ofGenshin Impactspeculations and rumors, the release date for upcoming update 2.7 could get pushed back.

Genshin Impactupdate 2.6arrived on March 30, which means that going by the game’s usual update schedule, Version 2.7 should arrive around mid-May. However, a recent post on theGenshin Impactleaks subreddit hints that the new update might get delayed. The post claims that there are already a few hints proving that update 2.6 might stay a little longer than expected. A ChineseGenshin Impactannouncements on Bilibili mentions that the Marvelous Merchandise event will arrive after Leyline Overflow which was supposed to be the last event of the update. This confirms that there have been additional changes to Hoyoverse’s original plans.
One of the main reasons behind this potential delay is probably the current COVID-19 situation in Shanghai which apparently has a significant impact on the Chinese developer Hoyoverse. However, the post has caused a lot of confusion considering that theupcoming Ayaka banneris confirmed to be three weeks, which is standard for a banner cycle. This means that a third banner will most likely be added after Ayaka, probably featuring one of the characters from the Standard banner.
A similar thing happened duringGenshin Impactupdate 1.3 where Keqing arrived as a filler banner between Xiao and Hu Tao. Diluc would probably be the best choice for this banner considering that he is probably the most popular Standard Banner character with Jean as a close second. Developer Hoyoverse has already confirmed the two characters that will arrive in the upcomingGenshin ImpactVersion 2.7. Yelan and Kuki Shinobu have been mentioned in numerous rumors in the last couple of months, and it seems like players will finally have the option to pull for them.
When it comes to their rarity, Yelan is confirmed to be a five-star character while Kuki should have a lower rarity. CredibleGenshin Impactleakers claim that the new characters will be divided between the two banner cycles which with Yelan’s banner arriving first. Kuki Shinobu will apparently arrive alongside anotherfive-starGenshin Impactcharacter Itto, which is symbolic considering that they are both members of the Arataki clan.
Genshin Impactis available now for PC, PS4, PS5, and mobile devices. A Switch version is in development.
