Genshin Impact’s world is named Teyvat, and it’s made of seven different continents. At the moment, the game has introduced only three main nations with the islands of Inazuma being the last major addition.
However, with the whole Inazuma arc coming to an end, the community expects a brand new major region to arrive in the upcoming months. Now developer HoYoverse has finally given more information about the content that should arrive with the next majorGenshin Impactupdate.

The officialGenshin ImpactJapanese account has revealed the first trailer for the new region Sumeru. The video was originally shown during the livestream event forGenshin Impactupdate 2.8. The trailer reveals numerous breathtaking locations players can visit once the new region arrives. Even though leaks have been hinting at Sumeru for the last couple of months, this is the first time developer HoYoverse has confirmed that the next major update will introduce the new mysterious region. The video has confirmed previous leaks stating that Sumeru will be filled with rainforests and giant plants.
Recent rumors about Sumeru being based on two real-life locations, the Middle East and Southeast Asia, have been proven by the architectural style of the buildings shown in the video. The most exciting thing about the new major region is the fact that it will introduce abrand-new element named Dendro. At the moment there are seven different elements in world ofGenshin Impact with Dendro being the only one that is not included in any character’s kit.
Multiple replies in the comment section claim that Sumeru will probably become their favorite region in all of Teyvat. However, a couple of fans have pointed out an interesting detail that was not shown in the video. According to multiple NPCs in the game,Sumeru is described as a mysterious regionfilled with rainforests and deserts, and the video does not show any desert parts which means that Sumeru will probably receive expansions in later updates.
When it comes to playable characters, leaks have already revealed numerous units that should arrive in the foreseeable future. TheupcomingGenshin ImpactVersion 3.0will apparently introduce three new characters: Tighnari, Collei, and Dori. Out of those three, only Tighnari is confirmed to be a five-star character which means that 3.0 will most likely introduce an additional re-run for the second banner cycle. Players expect the re-run to feature two popular characters - Zhongli and Ganyu.
Genshin Impactis available now on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is currently in development with no confirmed release date.
