Sumpter Beasts are a staple of Sumeru culture as some of the region’s predominant species of wildlife. These beasts may be found grazing all over Sumeru in two variants: Shaggy Sumpter Beasts and Wild Sumpter Beasts. Sumpter Beasts are normally docile, but the wild variants may become aggressive if the player approaches them. If unprepared, the player may be hit with a powerful attack by simply approaching a Sumpter Beast. In fact, powerful Sumpter Beastlords may be found near Cinnabar Cliff, which is close to ahidden Sumeru entrance from the Chasm.

Reddit user u/Sulphuuur was hunting Sumpter Beasts for raw meat in the Sumeru wilderness. After attacking all the beasts in proximity, an entire herd quickly launched a stampede-like assault on the player. u/Sulphuuur recorded the encounter as the player’s character was stuck in the middle of an aggravated herd of Sumpter Beasts. The video ends with Kaedehara Kazuha on the verge of death, and the beasts likely didn’t stop their unrelenting attack on the player.
Raw meat is a key ingredient for many of the4-starGenshin Impactdishesand Sumpter Beasts provide an abundance of the resource. On average, players obtain three pieces of meat from hunting a single Sumpter Beast. Since Sumpter Beasts are among the game’s largest docile creatures, hunting for raw meat has become more rewarding than ever before. Unlike foxes and boars, players must battle these giant beasts to claim their prize.
Although the hunting attempt went completely wrong, u/Sulphuuur’s video was entertaining and showed the potential outcome of targeting so many Sumpter Beasts at one time.
