AGenshin Impactfan has proposed an interesting quality-of-life change for various shielding effects in the game. Shields can play a significant role in a team composition as they provide much-needed protection against various types of damage and attacks that can interrupt the active character.

One ofGenshin Impact’s most common elemental reactions, Crystallize, generates various elemental shields by dealing Geo damage to enemies that are affected by Cryo, Pyro, Hydro, or Electro. This is the only elemental reaction in the game that can be triggered by Geo characters which makes these shields a core part of their play style.

Genshin Impact fan-made shield concept

A Reddit user named kt-koriz has shared an interesting concept that would allow players to see how much damage their active shields can absorb. At the moment, players don’t really have the option to see the state of their shields which can be frustrating at times as it’s hard to guess the perfect time when to reactivate them. Unnecessarily spamming shielding skills with Noelle or Zhongli can take up precious seconds which can ruin a rotation or even aperfect Spiral Abyss run inGenshin Impact. The fan-made concept proposes having a simple number above the HP bar which would show how many hit points the shield has left. This would the Geo Archon Zhongli even more powerful as players would know how to play around his shield.

Zhongli’s Dominus Lapidis can createthe by far strongest shield inGenshin Impact. The shield’s damage absorption scales with Zhongli’s max HP, and it becomes even stronger if there are Geo objects nearby. This has made Zhongli a must-have character for a lot of team compositions that have vulnerable main DPS characters. Zhongli also has the ability to create a resonating pillar as well as crash a Geo meteor on his enemies.

The second character in the concept is Thoma, and he can stack his shields which is why his concept shows two effects. Thoma was released back in update 2.2 andHoYoverse is yet to introduce a new Pyro character to the rostersince then. Even though Pyro users were once widely considered the strongest units in the game, they have slowly been pushed out of the meta.

The recent live stream event forGenshin Impactupdate 3.4has confirmed that the Pyro polearm user Hu Tao will finally be featured on a banner after missing 10 consecutive updates. Players who want to acquire this character will have to wait until February 7 when she’s scheduled to arrive alongside Yelan.

Genshin Impactis available now for PC, PS4, PS5, and mobile devices. A Switch version is in development.
