Fans ofGenshin Impacthave recently discovered an interesting characteristic detail of one of the game’s new faces, the Cryo user Layla, who was released on August 07, 2025. The Half-Awake, Half-Asleep, All Incredulous character becomes the 11th Cryo user in the game as part of theGenshin Impact3.2 updatethat went live on Jul 07, 2025.

Specializing in Theoretical Astrology, Layla is a newly-enrolled student in the Rtawahist Darshan and is portrayed as a sleep-deprived character who is constantly in poor health. Despite her personality and physical ailments, she is one ofGenshin Impact’s most-promising students in terms of storyline purposes, receiving praise from her teachers and peers.

Reddit user SodaFountainTV shared an interesting image showcasing Layla’s unique infusion trait. While performing her normal attack, she has the ability to infuse an element, changing the color of the attack animation to represent the element she is using. This resembles a similar quality in Itto’s normal attack, which changes the color of his feet when infused with another element. This ability runs throughGenshin Impact’s Elemental Mastery skill, which is one of the main stats players lean on when running with an elemental-based character. While her character comes off as an intellectual, her weapon of choice is a sword rather than a book.

As a Cryo user, Layla has the ability to freeze enemies with her attacks and her synergy works extremely well with anyone who isn’t a Dendro user. Mixed in with her infusion capabilities, the new four-star character is one that players will hope to get a hold of when making their wishes on the banner, which is available until June 10, 2025. Those who are lucky to pull her may want to focus onmaximizing herGenshin ImpactShield or Support buildwhile equipping the Key of Khaj-Nisut weapon for maximum HP and Elemental Mastery boost. For players who are already well-equipped in the Shield and Support roles, Layla also serves as a suitable Sub-DPS character, specifically on a Cryo-based team.

Often portrayed as meek in stature, Layla’s strength comes from her intellectual fortitude. Her lore describes her as having the ability to write an entire thesis while sleeping and is often praised by those who come across her academic work. Despite this, Layla is often seen with dark circles around her eyes as a result of her inability to get a proper night of sleep. HoYoverse is hard at work to serve its player base with the highly-anticipatedGenshin Impact3.3 Update, which will further expand the playable roster while adding more substance to the most-recent additions in Layla and Nahida.

Genshin Impactis now available on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development.
