Anyone wanting to relive the originalAssassin’s Creedcan do so on modern hardware thanks to the Xbox backward compatibility program, but they are out of luck on PlayStation. At the time of this writing, the only way to play the originalAssassin’s Creedon a PlayStation console is to track down a copy of thePS3version and play it on a PS3. Generally speaking, the vast majority ofAssassin’s CreedPS3 copies out in the wild will be used, but gamer Yodaboy170 spotted a new copy of the Greatest Hits version at their local pharmacy, being sold for $19.99.
Brand-new copies ofAssassin’s Creedon PS3 can go for hundreds of dollars on eBay, but the Greatest Hits version is significantly cheaper, selling for around the same $19.99 price online. It’s also worth pointing out that this copy is clearly sun damaged, as the box art featuring originalAssassin’s Creedprotagonist Altairlooks faded compared to how it should normally look. Regardless, it’s still an impressive find, and it’s wild that this copy has been sitting in the pharmacy for such a long time.
While someAssassin’s Creedfans will get a kick out of this nostalgic discovery, others will be keeping their attention focused on the franchise’s future. WithAssassin’s Creed Mirageout, thenextAssassin’s Creedgamesare expected to beAssassin’s Creed Codename Red, believed to be set in open world Japan, andAssassin’s Creed Codename Hexe, rumored to be set in 16th century Europe.
