Fortnitehas been releasing a lot of new content as of late. From launching Chapter 3 Season 2 and creating the “No Build” mode to giving players aCoachella experience withinFortnite, the developers are giving fans consistent updates to keep them interested and to keep the battle royale feeling fresh. Now, it seems that one leaker has spotted another upcoming change toFortnitethat will seeStar Warslightsabers return to the game after a long hiatus.

Initially, players could obtainlightsabers during aFortniteeventcoinciding with the release ofStar Wars Episode 9: The Rise of Skywalker. Director JJ Abrams spoke shortly to players before they were given the famous sci-fi weapons. Initially dropping in December 2019,Fortnite’slightsabers were a controversial addition to the game. While some found them fun, especially combined with theStar Warsskins available in the shop, other players believed the weapons were overpowered, as they could block significant amounts of oncoming fire.

Lightsabers disappeared fromFortniteafter theRise of Skywalkereventwas over, but they did make another appearance in May 2020 as part of a May 4th event. Now, according to aFortniteleaker, lightsabers will be making a return again this May 4th, which is considered by many to be a day for celebrating all thingsStar Wars. It would make sense for the battle royale to bring back the weapons for a limited time.

When they returned in 2020, the damage lightsabers did had been largely unchanged. SoFortniteplayers could yet again worry about the meta shifting towards lightsabers. However, some fans believe that theStar Warsweapons won’t be available in competitive play, meaning that they won’t be able to completely mess with ranked matchmaking. The lightsabers will likely return with their original four designs, including Kylo Ren’s unique lightsaber, Rey’s Blue, Luke’s Green, and Mace Windu’s Purple.

Considering thatStar Warsareas are still around inFortnite’smap, the addition of lightsabers wouldn’t seem too strange. Something fans were asking for besides lightsabers returning is for the Mandalorian’s jetpack to make a return. Already, jetpacks are back inFortnitefor Chapter 3 Season 2, so it would likely involve a reskin for the Mandalorian jetpack to find its way into the game once again, or it could return simply as a glider and back bling in the game.

Fortniteis currently available on Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
