Fortnitehas an incredible amount of crossover and original characters for players to choose from. Now, it seems likeFortniteis teasing something coming for one of its most popular original characters.
WhileFortniteis a free-to-play battle royale, it has an in-game store that sells a rotating selection of cosmetic skins, emotes, and a variety of other options. WhileFortnitehas added some incredible crossover skinslike Batman Zero, some of its most popular characters are some of the game’s originals. One of those is Meowscles that is an extremely muscular shirtless cat that was introduced to the game in the second season ofFortnite: Chapter 2.

Now,Fortnite’s Twitter account has posted a short comic that hints at some changes coming to Meowscles. The comic is a simple one that shows Meowscles eating an old canned fish that causes him to start being taken over by black goo as well as the white gloves that were popular in old black and white cartoons. It is not clear what consequences the comic will all lead to, but withFortnite’s constantly evolving seasonal structureand overarching narrative, almost anything is possible.
Since mostFortniteseasons have a theme, such as the current season being titled “Primal” and bringing dinosaurs to the battle royale, it could be that the next season will be themed around old-school animation.
Of course, the comic could also just signal a change that will impact Meowscles in particular. The narrative ofFortniteand its characters evolve with the completion of the game’s seasons of new content, so it could be that the comic hints at a new Meowscles development that sees him being infected with this black goo. If that is the case, it will likely lead to a new Meowscles skin in-game as well as hopefully answering some questions fans have as to whether or not Meowscles is a SHADOW agent or a double agent.
A lot ofinformation aboutFortnitehas leaked as of latedue to the ongoing lawsuit between Epic Games and Apple, but none of the documents have mentioned anything related to this new development as of yet.
Whatever the comic ends up leading to, it is an interesting hook to grab the attention ofFortniteplayers. It is nice to see Meowscles returning to the spotlight, as the character quickly became popular after his original release. It will be interesting to see what is in store for the popular battle royale’s story, as well as whatnew features will be added toFortnite, so hopefully, fans do not have too much longer to wait to see what this comic is leading to.
