Of all ofFortnite’s methods of gaining experience, one of themost daunting Week 5 challengesrequires players to kill a Gorger. This is difficult for a number of reasons, as it is very different than the typical challenge that just requires the player to dance. While finding a Gorger usually isn’t too difficult, defeating one can be tough.

Gorgers were added intoFortnitealongside the 14.10 update, the same one that added in Stark Industries and the other Galactus Drones. There are two main methods to defeating a Gorger, so players will need to use whichever method is easier for them.

As usual, the first step isfinding the Gorger, but these enemies don’t show up on the map. Instead, players should deploy their parachute immediately after dropping and look around for a large, red beam. This beacon can be seen from across the map and denotes that a Gorger has spawned at that location.

Gorgers are large Galactus Drones, and look similar to the Gatherers that were a part ofFortnite’s Week 4 challenges. With normal weaponry, it is difficult to damage these drones, though not completely impossible. Players will need to aim for the yellow spot on the bottom of the drone or the yellow eye towards the top, as normal weapons are only capable of dealing damage to these locations. The Gorger will also spawn several Gatherers throughout the course of the fight, so it may be wise to take those down before attempting to kill the Gorger itself.

As a benefit to that tactic, defeating a Gatherer has a chance to sometimes drop its weapon. If the player uses this weapon against the Gorger, it will do full damage regardless of where the player hits. This is by far the easiest and quickest way to defeat one of these drones, but it’s not always a viable option if the Gatherers don’t drop it. On the bright side, players don’t have to approach this daunting task on their own, as this is a team challenge. So long as the player is participating in the fight and dealing damage, they should be awarded the challenge once they finallydefeat the Gorger.

Though this may be a challenge, it is well worth the effort as completing it grants the player 50,000 XP towards their Battle Pass. Those still wanting more should look to otherFortniteWeek 5 challenges, such as the one that requires players tomake a Stark Robot dance.
