Summary
Fortniteis bringing back the Janky skin for a sixth appearance in the Item Shop after nearly 850 days of it being locked away in the vault. Over the years,Fortnitehas released thousands of cosmetic items. With the launch of new game modes, such as Rocket Racing,LEGO Fortnite, and Fortnite Festival, different types of cosmetics started to appear in the Item Shop. So, as if the increasing number of Battle Royale items wasn’t enough, it continued to grow in size with all these additions as well.
Epic Games only reduced the size of theItem Shop forFortniteSeason OGback in November 2023 so that it was more like the shop back in Chapter 1. This was short-lived, and as soon as Chapter 5 Season 1 went live and the game went back to normal, so did the Item Shop. Thankfully, there have been several updates and changes to improve it, and it can now be separated into various categories, making it easier to filter and navigate through. Despite the fact that the shop often has more than 50 items per day, since there is such a large number of cosmetics, fans are always waiting for an item in particular to return.

According to ShiinaBR, a known leaker in theFortnitecommunity, Janky is set to return to the Item Shop on April 18 once it refreshes at 8 PM ET. This is easily one of therarest skins inFortnite, because not only has it not been available for over two years, but it’s also only been in the Item Shop a total of five full days. Four days when it was first released during Chapter 2 Season 8 back in September 2021, and then for a single day on July 28, 2025. Additionally, it can be considered rare, since not many players got it at the time of release, as it wasn’t particularly appealing to the community as a cosmetic item.
When Does Janky Release in the Item Shop?
Janky comes out on the same day as the new J Balvin skin, which will be released as part of the2024 Coachella event inFortnite. Gamers who would like to purchase the Janky skin might consider getting the Janky Bundle instead. Janky costs 1,500 V-Bucks, and it includes Janky’s Stunt Helmet back bling. However, for an additional 300 V-Bucks, fans can get the bundle instead, which includes Janky’s Dead Fish pickaxe, worth 800 V-Bucks.
Even though it’s always great to see rare skins return toFortnite, some players weren’t exactly happy to learn that Janky would be the chosen one this time around. Many gamers are still waiting on other cosmetic skins, mainly Kratos, due to the leaks that mentionedmoreGod of Warskins coming toFortniteduring the ancient Greek mythology season.
