The series introduced audiences to Krasinski and Blunt playing a set of parents trying to guide their family through a world inhabited by blind monsters that have deeply acute senses of hearing, meaning being quiet is paramount to survival. By being set before that,A Quiet Place: Day Onewill reveal how the monsters took over.

The Michael Bay-produced film, a joint production between his Platinum Dunes horror-heavy shingle and Paramount, is now finally shooting after going through some ups and downs in its production cycle. Paramount first announced the prequel in 2020 with Jeff Nichols, the man behindMudandMidnight Special, set to serve as both writer and director. Krasinski told the press that the script was ready in May of 2021, but after a series of creative differences, Nichols stepped down in November of that year leaving a hole in the production lineup. January of last year saw Sarnoski,the man behind Nicolas Cage flick,Pig, signing on, agreeing to rewrite and directA Quiet Place: Day One, with Nichols getting a co-writing credit.
