Nintendo’s mobile gameFire Emblem Heroesis once again hosting its annual Choose Your Legends event.
Since even before its launch,Fire Emblem Heroeshas held an event called Choose Your Legends. At the beginning of every year,Fire Emblemfans with a My Nintendo account are able to log in and vote for their favoriteFire Emblemcharacters from any game. The two male characters and two female characters who get the most votes get special unique variant units in the game with unique outfits and abilities, and once released, players can choose one for free. Previous winners have included fan-favorite characters like Camilla fromFire Emblem Fatesand Edelgard von Hresvelg fromFire Emblem: Three Houses.

To vote, a player needs to log in with a My Nintendo account. From there, there’s a choice between being presented with a randomFire Emblemcharacter, or choosing a character by game. If a random character isn’t selected, a screen comes up with all theFire Emblemgames sorted by date. From there, the voter just picks the game the character is from, and then selects the character they want. The voting takes place over seven days, and a person can vote for one character each day. They can vote for a different character each time, or the same one.
Like most gacha-style mobile games,Fire Emblem Heroeshosts a number of annual events to keep its playerbase engaged. This includes events likeFire Emblem Heroes' recent New Years Banner, where players could spend orbs on a chance to unlock special New Years versions of specific characters.
Characters from the most recent game in theFire Emblemseries often get a large share of the votes. Last year,Fire Emblem: Three Housesprotagonists and fan-favorites Edelgard, Dimitri, Claude, and side character Lysithea won the top four spots. While they’re all ineligible this year due to their prior wins, it’s possible the otherThree Housescharacters might win this year, since the game is still the most recent one in players' minds. The game has also been receiving several updates with newThree Housescharacters to keep it fresh, specificallythe members of the Church of Seiros.
Of course, the first game in the series,Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon & The Blade of Light, released for the first time in English just last year as part of the series' 30th anniversary celebration.Fire Emblemis still selling incredibly well, so it’s possible that a Shadow Dragon character might take one of the top spots this year.
