Mini-games have been a big part of theFinal Fantasyseries for decades. Players have had their favorites over the years like Blitzball inFinal Fantasy 10or the fishing segments inFinal Fantasy 15. Then there are the card enthusiasts who love Triple Triad from Final Fantasy 8 and Tetra Master fromFinal Fantasy 9.

That was two card mini-games back to back for the series and now, years later there is a new one to the roster. Queen’s Blood will be introduced duringChapter 2 ofFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirth. It can be hard to understand at first, so here are some general tips to follow.

7Play Duals As They Come Around

It’s Time To D-D-D-Duel

Most of the major towns in the game have opponentswaiting for Cloudto challenge them. For example, there are three dualists in Kalm that players should take on before they have to rush out of the town. In towns, their icons will appear as cards, so be sure to check maps when entering a new town.

Defeating the three opponents in a town will typically level up Cloud’s ranking. Some opponents will not even challenge Cloud unless he is at their level. Playing matches asFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirthgoes along will ensure players won’t have to double back to towns.

6It’s About Seizing Space Quickly

A Monopoly RPG

One strategy that seems to work almost every time is amassing a large space on the board. If players rush forward and claim spaces, most dualists will not be able to place cards on the table. This requires players to have lady luck on their side as getting the best hand from the start can be tricky.

That’s why it is important to have decks include cards that emphasize spaces rather than star power. This land-seizing strategy may not work for every player or every situation, but it is a good one to keep in mind. It’s kind of like playing a more RPG version of theboard game Monopoly.

5Look At Card Info

There May Be A Surprise

Players may not realize that a lot of the cards in the game have special properties. Highlighting them during a game will explain their properties and the same is true in the deck-building menu. For example, one great early card to get is called Mandragora.

This plant-like monster will create a duplicate of itself every time it is placed on the board. The card that gets duplicated will go back into the player’s deck, slightly altered, giving them an extra card to use if needed. Reading is always a good tip to emphasizein an RPG.

4Stick To 1-2 Star Cards

Gotta Card ‘Em All

There are a variety of ways to get cards in the game. Winning matches is one way which is another reason why players should tackle matches as soon as possible. They can buy decks from shops which can only be done once.

There are other shops with singular cards too like the ones at Gold Saucer. Through this collecting, players would do well to create decks using only one or two-star cards. While three-star cards might have higher points or better abilities, summoning them can take more time than it is worth especially if players want to follow the seizing land strategy.

3Pay Attention To Enemies

Learn From The Masters

One of the best strategies in the game is to watch how dualists act during matches. The AI during matches is typically good in that players may think they are playing someone in amultiplayer card game. This means that players can look at the cards an opponent has and then players can attempt to copy their strategies in the future.

An easy way to do this is to record matches which shouldn’t be too hard on a PS5 that players can then review later. Players can hold down the Share button on the PS5 to bring up a list of recording options forFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirth.

Building a deck in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

2Create Multiple Decks

A Different Deck For Every Strategy

Players can create six different decks in the game and switch between them right before a match. It might be a good idea to experiment with different styles of decks to be ready for all types of dualists. Maybe players can skirt by with a deck made entirely out of one-star cards or maybe they need something beefier like a deck that contains all-star types.

It would be nice ifFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirthallowed players to do this with weapons, equipment, and Materia. Maybe that will come in a patch, but right now Queen’s Blood is a forward-thinking mechanic.

Losing a Queen’s Blood match in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

1It’s Okay To Lose

Unlimited Continues With Little Consequences

Queen’s Blood is more lenient thanFinal Fantasy 8’sTriple TriadandFinal Fantasy 9’sTetra Master. In those games, whenever players lost a match they would lose a random card. Defeating an opponent would give players a chance to choose a random card at will.

InFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirth, players never rarely have to worry about losing as the only consequence is handing over a smidge of Gil. Also, prizes are set awards as was previously mentioned. Players can even stop in the middle of a game to demand a rematch which is not a bad strategy and that won’t trigger any Gil-loss. It’s a good tip to follow if it seems like the proverbial checkmate is at hand.
