The fall months usually represent the biggest months of the year for the video game industry, with many publishers saving their most notable games and blockbuster releases for September, October, and November. Conversely, the winter and summer months are usually some of the slowest for games, with February not really known as a particularly big month for gaming. However, February 2022 is a different story, and may very well end up being one of the biggest months of the entire year for gaming.

Various release date delays and other happenings have set February 2022 up as being a particularly big month for gaming when it comes to new releases. Between the potential for big events and the games that are confirmed to be releasing next month, February 2022 is going to be huge.

Video Game Events in February 2022

Besides new video game releases, February 2022 has potential to host some big gaming events. None of this has been confirmed at this time, but there are rumors that both Nintendo and Sony will have presentations at some point next month that will highlight upcoming games in the works for the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5, respectively.

In Nintendo’s case, the Big N has hosted a Nintendo Direct nearly every February for years, and so it wouldn’t be surprising at all for it to do the same next month. After all, many upcoming Nintendo Switch games for 2022 are currently without release dates, and so aNintendo Direct eventwould be the perfect way for it to fill out the calendar.

As far as Sony goes, there have been consistent rumblings that the company is prepping anew State of Play presentationthat will take place at some point in February. Again, neither of these presentations have actually been confirmed at the time of this writing, and so fans should take the information with a massive grain of salt for now.
