While the user and title of the game might bring to mindan open-world 3DDonkey KonggamelikeSuper Mario Odyssey, this dream goes for aCrash Bandicoot-style game design. This can be seen with a level select that covers the map of DK Island and linear 3D levels. The latest update adds in a classic minecart level, capped off with a boss fight between Donkey Kong and a snake enemy.
