Fall 2022 is slated to be one ofthe most exciting seasons for anime in 2022. After all, it is stacked with so many great anime. Some of them are long-awaited sequels, such as the second half ofSpyxFamily,the third season ofMob Psycho 100, and the new season of bothBleachandMy Hero Academia, just to name a few.
Not only that, there are also new series that make their debut in Fall 2022, such asBlue LockandMobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury. However, the most anticipated one of them all has to beChainsaw Man. It is an adaptation of a manga by the same name, written and drawn by Tatsuki Fujimoto. The manga published the last chapter of the first part of the story back in 2020, and it’s safe to say that the fans have been waiting for the anime adaptation ever since. Now that the anime isscheduled to be released on October 11, here are some of the things that you need to know about it.

The Story
In the world ofChainsaw Man, devils are something that you can see every day. They come in different sizes, looks, and most importantly, different names. You see, the devils inChainsaw Manare a manifestation of humanity’s collective fear. The stronger that feeling of fear to certain objects is,the more powerful the devils would be. That is why a Bat Devil is stronger than a Chicken Devil.
The one thing that all of those devils have in common is the fact that they prey on humans. Sure, there are devils that prefer to be friendly with humans, but the overwhelming majority of them savor the taste of human’s flesh. So in order to combat those dangerous devils, the government establishedthe Public Safety Devil Hunter. These are a group of strong and trained people who make a contract with a certain devil in order to hunt and kill wild devils. Together with devil hunters from private sectors, they are the pillars that keep the public safe from devil’s attack.
The story follows a young man named Denji. He is an orphan who lives in destitution and has to do all kinds of odd jobs to pay off the debt left by his late parents. One of those jobs is a freelance devil hunter.With the help of his friend Pochita, a cute chainsaw devil, Denji tries to slay as many weak devils as he can every day. Unfortunately, Denji lost his life during one of his fights. In order to save his friend, Pochita sacrifices his life and forms a contract with Denji. So begin the life of a man with a chainsaw head who calls himself theChainsaw Man.
The Characters
Similar to other action shounen series out there, the characters ofChainsaw Mancome in a set of three. There’s Denji, the Chainsaw Man, Aki Hayakawa, a public devil hunter assigned to watch over Denji, and Power, a wild and childish girl who happens to be the Blood Devil. Overseeing them all isthe charismatic and beautiful woman named Makima. As a matter of fact, the only reason Denji agreed to join the Public Safety Devil Hunter is in order to get closer to Makima.

Other than them, there are also a handful of other devil hunters who will make an appearance from time to time. Likewise, there are also several prominent devils that enter the fray to hunt Denji.Most of these supporting characterswould only appear for a short period of time, but therein lies the power ofChainsaw Man. Because even if that particular character only appears for one short story arc, they will still be able to leave a deep impression on your heart.
The Animation
The studio that is responsible for adaptingChainsaw Manis MAPPA. Established in 2011,MAPPA is responsible for some of the most popular animethat are beloved by fans all over the world, such asJujutsu Kaisen, Kakegurui, Yuri On Ice, and the final season ofAttack on Titan, just to name a few.
MAPPA is well-known for their sharp and vibrant animation, andjudging from the trailers forChainsaw Manthat we’ve seen so far, we can expect stellar animation for this series as well. Not only that, based on their portfolio, it is clear that MAPPA is one of the few studios that can faithfully adapt all the craziness that happened in Chainsaw Man manga into the screen.
The Staff
When it comes tothe people who work on the upcomingChainsaw Mananime, there are several names that are worth mentioning. First is the director, Ryu Nakayama (Jujutsu Kaisen, Rising of the Shield Hero). And then there’s the Action Director, Tatsuya Yoshihara (Black Clover, BlazBlueAlter Memory), the Art Director, Yusuke Takeda (Berserk: The Golden Arc, Ghost in the Shell: SAC), and the Music Director, Kensuke Ushio (Devilman Crybaby, A Silent Voice).
The Opening song forChainsaw Manis “KICK BACK” by Kenshi Yonezu, while the Ending will consist of 12 different songs, performed by twelve different artists.
