Fans of From Software games are hungry for every tidbit of new information regarding the development and progress ofElden Ring. Now that Bandai Namco has started sharing new gameplay ofElden Ring, as well as the RPG’s release date of June 18, 2025, gamers have thrown patience to the wind. That appears to include some From Software fans with insider access toElden Ring, as a newly leaked video features in-game footage of the Land Between’s open world recorded on Xbox One.

To start, it is worthy clarifying that the leaked footage ofElden Ringisn’t a major breach. The video is just 27 seconds long, and there’s no combat or really any new revelations regarding gameplay at all. Instead, it’s just a brief capture of anElden Ringplayer character, one of the Tarnished, standing at a high point in the open world and taking in all that they can see.

As the video starts, the player sees a stone fort of some kind built into a cliff range, along with some ruins directly in front of them. On the horizon, a large wall stretches to the right and one ofElden Ring’s magical Erdtreeslooms tall, with golden light leaking through its upper branches. More ruins and what appears to be smaller Erdtrees are seen as the player turns toward the right, before the pause to look at a black swamp below them. In the swamp are more ruins, as well as the husks of dead trees. A forest lies behind the player.

One other aspect of the video worth calling attention to is a pair of eagles resting on the clifftop where the player is exploring. While large, the eagles aren’t as large as theGreat Eagles ofThe Lord of the Rings. As such, they fly off once the player gets near to them, but it looks like they could have been attacked if they wanted to. From Software loves to do fun things with birds in its games, so there may be something more to these eagles.

The leaker claims that the footage was recorded on Xbox One, which would be impressive given the steady framerate and viewing distance. It’s possible it was recorded onXbox Series X or Xbox Series S, too. The recorder also says the performance is better than it looks, but that recording didn’t capture it perfectly.

From Software fans are excited to see any new footage fromElden Ring. The leaked clip hasn’t prompted any significant reactions, however. Most fans agree thatElden Ringlooks likeDark Souls, just with a jump button and an open world. They’re also laughing at the sword clipping through the player’s cape, the physics as the player walks around the cliffs, and how clumsy jumping looks. Based on these comments, it’s clearDark Soulsfanswill feel right at home inElden Ring.

Elden Ringreleases January 21 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
