While observing the model of the boss Godrick the Grafted, anElden Ringplayer discovered an interesting detail about the Stormveil Castle ruler. Much like FromSoftware’s previous titles, a lot of the story inElden Ringisn’t told to the player directly. Instead, players can infer from the words of others, as well as the tried-and-true method ofFromSoftware’s famous environmental storytelling that can be found inElden Ring. There are already countless videos and posts of people finding small details that add more depth to the already heavy story, and it seems another detail has been found again, this time on Godrick’s body.
Godrick, The Grafted is a notable boss, and most likely one of the first major bosses that players will come across. While he is optional, he does bar the most direct way into Liurnia of the Lakes, the way that most players will traverse.Godrick’s boss fight is a true challenge for new players, with heavy strength in his attacks, thanks to all the limbs grafted to him, and the use of a dragon head in his second phase. However, he also has the ability to call upon storms, something he apparently uses through his left leg.

Thanks to oneElden Ringplayer’s eagle eye, there seems to be a detail hidden in Godrick’s left leg. Posting their theory to r/Eldenring, user JackNewbie555 uploaded a photo of Godrick’s legs with text implying that, since Godrick’s left leg is not only able to call upon storms but is also armored, it is in fact the leg of another boss capable of utilizing storms. A boss that is actually missing a leg too, one Commander Niall.
Commander Niall is a boss fought in Castle Sol that utilizes soldiers and acharge thatElden Ringplayers find hard to dodge. While not of the same narrative relevance as Godrick, there now seems to be a bigger connection between them. With Godrick’s desire to be strong, getting the leg of a man that can summon storms would be a surefire way to get stronger once it’s grafted on.
It’s these little details that really expand the world of The Lands Between, making the story feel more in-depth than previously thought. It’s only over time that players find these kinds of details, likeRanni’s role in the Radahn fight, and there are sure to be more in the future. With an expansion in the future, the story ofElden Ringseems only to have just begun, and there are hopes more questions will be answered when Shadow of the Erdtree arrives.
