AnElden Ringinvader defeats the host they are fighting by cleverly utilizing the host’s attack against them. When it comes toElden Ring’s PvP, combat can be a lot more versatile, where players think way outside the box about going after the host and finding ways to take them down. Most players like to just run at the host and take them on in full combat, while some players like to instead be a bit more clever about their approach, like whenone player set up an ambush inElden Ring’s Lake of Rot.
InElden Ring, there are many magic spells that the player can use, but there is a special kind known asDragon Communion Incantations. These are spells that can be obtained by killing dragons throughout The Lands Between and don’t require Runes to purchase, but Dragon Hearts, obtained by also taking down dragons. There are 14 in the game, and they cover a wide variety of different damage, like fire damage and glintstone damage. There’s even a specific incantation known as Rotten Breath, which spews out scarlet rot, creating a plume of the deadly status effect.

While Rotten Breath is dangerous to come across, it was also the downfall for one pair of players during anElden RingPvP Invasion. Posting to r/Eldenring, user swagsta uploaded a video of them invading a couple of players in PVP. The fight took place in one of the game’s many dungeons, so there is a very tight stairway that the invader is using as a sort of protection, but it doesn’t work mostly due to one player’s attacks. However, that all changes when the other host uses Rotten Breath, spewing the vile smoke out and covering the entire area.
That’s when the invader pulls out one of the Fire Giant Incantations called Giantsflame Take Thee and throws it. Among the smoke of the Rotten Breath, the health bars of both hosts go to 0 immediately, earning the invader a double kill, almost as satisfying as whenoneElden Ringinvader took out three players with one attack. In the comments, many commend them for their clever thinking in utilizing a host’s attack against them.
Elden Ring’s PvP invasions are always an interesting way to see how players think during the heat of battle when going up against other players. While some ofElden Ring’s PvP fights can be won with a perfectly timed parry, others may require something more clever. In this case, one invader’s quick thinking earned them an easy victory. Always be sure to take care about what attacks are being used, as they may be used against the one who cast them.
