In a daring and ultimately tragic move, anElden Ringplayer attempted to sprint past all enemies on their way to the boss, only to meet their demise at the hands of a group of Battlemage wizards. Some ofElden Ring’s areas seem repetitive, especially if the grace is located far from the boss door. Many players have become accustomed to running through areas after clearing them once. However, it has proven to be a very dangerous strategy and one that does not usually turn out well for the player. Some areas are generally easier to run through, but Miquella’s Haligtree is not one of them.

Miquella’s Haligtree is a legacy dungeonlike none other inElden Ring. It houses the game’s most difficult boss, Malenia, at its roots, but there are many other disturbing creatures that inhabit this location besides just the Goddess of Rot. Players traversing this late-game area will become familiar with enemies like Oracle Envoys, Giant Ants, and Misbegotten, along with many others. Alongside Malenia, Miquella’s Haligtree is also the location where players encounter Loretta for the second time. On this occasion, her title has changed to Loretta, Knight of the Haligtree.

In a video posted to Reddit, oneElden Ringplayer dashed through Miquella’s Haligtreein a bid to make it to Loretta’s boss door. Despite the odds, the player known as MarsHumanNotAlien197 made it all the way to the boss arena unscathed. However, they were suddenly greeted with a barrage of long-range attacks from behind. When MarsHumanNotAlien197 stopped in front of the fog door to apply buffs to his character, it gave the Battlemage enemies they had just passed a chance to focus their attention on them and launch a ranged strike. This attack was devastating for the player, who lost more than half their health before even seeing the boss they were preparing for. Instead of healing, they immediately entered the boss arena to avoid another attack from the Battlemage, but it was too late. As soon as Loretta’s health bar appeared, another Battlemage range attack struck the player from outside the arena, killing them on contact.

Battlemages are not to be trifled with inElden Ring. Mostmage builds inElden Ringare quite easy to deal with due to their low poise and relatively weak armor. This, however, is not the case with the Battlemage, making them more formidable than a regular mage. The Battlemage can use a combination of ranged attacks as well as close-quarters combat. This coupled with high poise makes them extremely tough to deal with, as was the case with MarsHumanNotAlien197.

Many players inElden Ringhave experienced frustrating moments like these if they play long enough.Elden Ringhas many laughable moments, and dying to enemies in this way is just one of them.

Elden Ringis available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
