Bandai Namco confirms thatDragon Ball Z: Kakarot’s turn-based card battle mode,Dragon Ball Card Warriors, will be shutting down its online services sometime next year. This mode was announced shortly after the game’s initial launch in 2020, as part of a free update to the game.Dragon Ball Card Warriorswas a fast-paced card battle game that had the players dueling it out to see who could reduce the HP of their opponent’s team leader to zero. The Switch version of the game would see a delay of this mode being implemented, though it was finally added earlier this year.

However, despite players finding the mode a nice change of pace from the normal gameplay, others believedDragon Ball Card Warriorsshould have been its own gameinstead of being tacked onto the already releasedKakarot. The amount of microtransactions in order to buy other cards and continue playing was also a sticking point for some, especially withKakarotalready being a fully priced game. While the online functions will be shut down,Card Warriorswill still be playable in some form.
