Now, Disney’s newest game will allow players to live side-by-side with their favorite iconic characters inDisney Dreamlight Valley.

While Disney’s most notable outing within the gaming industry has been the smash success of the previously mentionedKingdom Hearts, the animation juggernaut has often created games surrounding its own characters with a more light-hearted tone. Disney recently announced its crossoverkart-racing gameDisney Speedstormwould be coming to PlayStation and Xbox, andDisneyhas a long history of popular licensed games based on franchises likeAladdinandThe Lion King. Now,Disney Dreamlight Valleybrings together Disney franchises into a mix of life simulation and adventure.

Disney officially revealedDisney Dreamlight ValleyWednesday through a new official YouTube channel for the game.Dreamlight Valleyis presented as a mix of anAnimal Crossing-esque life simulationalong with several elements of adventure games from exploring a wide variety of unique locales to gathering resources and solving puzzles. Players will be able to fully customize their character’s appearance and design their home, as well as interact and possibly accept quests for characters from franchises likeFrozen, The Lion King,Moana, and more.

While the trailer mostly sticks toDisney’s expected bright and vibrant colors and happy motif with scenes like cooking withRatatouille’s Remy and fishing with Goofy, the trailer’s opening also makes reference to a potential darker tone relating to many of the franchise’s iconic villains. OnlyThe Little Mermaid’s Ursula is shown within the trailer, though the specifichighlighting of Disney’s “most villainous"seems to imply the game will feature a wider cast of recognizable antagonists to interact with. No release date was given forDisney Dreamlight Valley, although it was revealed to be coming to most major platforms.

The reveal ofDisney Dreamlight Valleycomes as many of Disney’s most recognizable gaming franchises are gearing up for the future. Square-Enix made waves earlier this month when itofficially announcedKingdom Hearts 4with a trailer showing off gameplay and Sora’s newest redesign. Disney’s upcoming mobile gameMirrorversewas recently announced to be fully releasing this June, andDisney Speedstormis also set to release later this year.Disney Dreamlight Valleywill add to a strong lineup of Disney games coming throughout the rest of 2022.
