Reddit user Schenscher posted an image oftheir copy ofDiablo 2lying in the rubble of their former home. The reason for the home burning down is unknown to the public, but an additional image was posted as well, showcasing the scope of the aftermath. In the first image, other games can be seen in the background, but the most prominent title is the one based in hell,Diablo 2, an ironic find after such a sad event.

Games surviving a house fire is a rare thing. Perhaps the most famous story about a video game collection being involved in a similar incident is the story of John Lewis. John Lewis had a collection of over2000 games destroyed in a house firethat started in his kitchen and couldn’t be stopped. The collected included his childhood favorites that are almost impossible to find today, such asSuper Mario RPGandEarthbound. With over 2000 games and 30 systems involved in the fire, there’s no telling how much of a financial investment was lost in the incident.

Schenscher is not the only gamer to discover one of their childhood favorites survive a fire either. Reddit User CaseyWrong found a similar result when their bedroom burned down, and theirXbox One survived the fireand was still operational. The running theme between all of these cases seems to be a feeling of loss for what unfortunately happened to their homes, but then a sensation of relief after realizing that their lives can go on. All that being said, the image of the demon on theDiablo 2cover smiling among the wreckage will live on in infamy.

Diablo 2is available now on PC.
