Lucky Hit is a combat mechanic inDiablo 4that gates some wildly strong builds behind two layers of RNG that are understandably warranted. Its concept is a little hard to understand at first, but its effects make themselves more than apparent in the late game, where players are decked out in powerful gear.

The Rogue class has a wide variety of Lucky Hit effects built into their skill tree. With the right Aspects and items, players can take advantage of this to create a fun and satisfying character while also being capable of contending in the highest difficulty modeDiablo 4has to offer. Here are the necessary skills and effect combos needed to make this work.

Supreme Shadow Clone
This is a variant of the Frost Archer build that makes heavy use of Chill to buff the Rogue’s damage output. The main difference with this setup is that players will be relying on theFrostburnUnique gloves and Lucky Hit procs to freeze targets with their attacks instantly.
Rapid Fire has a relatively low Lucky Hit chance, but keep in mind that it affects every arrow fired by the skill.A Lucky Hit is bound to occuras long as players keep firing. These will occur more frequently once certain passive skills are triggered.

Caltrops and Ice Imbuement are this build’s main sources of Chill. These will activate Crowd-Control-related effects from passives and items. Meanwhile, Concealment primarily acts as an escape tool for when players get hit by enemy Crowd Control attacks.
Shadow Clone is generally good for Rapid Fire builds, but it’s currently unclear if the clone’s attacks can trigger Lucky Hit effects. This guide will be updated once further testing is complete or if the community discovers more about how this ability works.

Specialization
Combo Points
As with the Frost Archer build, this one relies on Frigid Finesse to deal more damage against Chilled and Frozen enemies. The rest of the passives are for general damage buffs, survivability, and mobility.
Since this build leverages Lucky Hits,Victimizeis the preferred Key Passive. It causes enemies to explode when triggered, greatly improving the Rogue’s AOE damage potential. Players will miss out on Precision’s crit-related bonuses, but Victimize’s explosions are often more than enough to make up for lost DPS.

Combo Points are the preferred Specialization here since each point increases the number ofarrows fired by Rapid Fire, which translates to more chances to score Lucky Hits. The added damage also helps shred elites and bosses, especially with theCondemnationUnique dagger.
Cowl of the Nameless (Unique Helmet)
Condemnation (Unique Dagger)
Arrow Storms (Ring)
To truly make this build shine, players will need theCowl of the NamelessandFrostburnUniques. The former increases Lucky Hit Chance against Crowd-Controlled enemies while the latter instantly freezes targets when triggered. Players can still enjoy the Lucky Hit playstylewithout Cowl of the Nameless, but if they don’t have Frostburn, then it will be better to follow the normal Frost Archer build instead.
Condemnation isn’t necessarily required here, but it’ll help against tough targets. This can be replaced with another offensive Aspect like Accelerating or Vengeful.
Stack as much Vulnerable damage, Core Skill damage, and Damage vs. Crowd-Controlled/Chilled/Frozen for maximum DPS. Crossbows are preferred since they can come with two Vulnerable damage affixes (one innate, one random).

Paragon Boards
Start byunlocking the first board’s Glyph Socketand inserting theControlGlyph for more damage against Chilled and Frozen enemies. Then, take more Paragon Boards while focusing on increasing damage and survivability.
Exploit Weaknessis a great second board since it buffs damage against Vulnerable targets. Players will be inflicting this status effect through Fundamental Puncture and Ice-imbued Rapid Fire. The socket here is surrounded by Intelligence nodes—insert theCombatGlyph to gain Energy whenever Rapid Fire crits.
Cheap Shotis another good board that’s all about damaging movement-impaired enemies. Players can slot in either theTurforDiminishGlyphs here for more survivability or Exploit for guaranteed Vulnerable procs and extra Vulnerable damage.
From hereon, take Paragon Boards and nodes based on what the character needs. Make sure not to skimp out on defenses, especially when challenging high-tier Nightmare Dungeons.
