Summary
Xur has returned again toDestiny 2, complete with new exotic and legendary gear for players to check out for a limited time. Recently,Destiny 2players have started to see a rise in error messagesand disconnects while playing, which for a live service game, can be a big problem. While Bungie has confirmed the problem as a DDoS attack and that the studio was diligently working on stabilizing and fixing the frustrating issue.
Unfortunately for Bungie, this latest issue follows on the heels of another major bug related to crafting where players could add exotic perks from weapons like Dead Man’s Tale and Ostea Striga and apply them to legendary weapons. Occurring last week, the bug had a big impact on weekend Crucible matches and Trials of Osiris, while also causing abig spike in overallDestiny 2player activity. Bungie acted swiftly over the weekend, disabling certain frames and perks until a more permanent solution is applied.

In the meantime, Xur is making another appearance insideDestiny 2. Follow this guide for his most current weekend location, news on his exotic cipher quest, as well as a review of all the exotic and legendary gear he’s brought for the weekend of Jul 22, 2025.

Where is Xur?
This weekend,Destiny 2players can head to the Hangar area of The Tower to find Xur overlooking the mountains in the distance.
As usual, fast travel to the main Tower location and head left into the Hangar. Once there, take another left and move past the Dead Orbit section to find a metal staircase. Move up the stairs to find Xur standing on a platform.

Class Armor and Exotic Cipher
Xur’s role continues to offer the usual weekly quests, exotics, and legendary gear. Not only are these quests required to purchase a second fated engram, but they’re necessary toacquire legacy exotic gear from the Tower kiosk. Players can earn a new cipher by completing strikes and winning crucible or gambit matches. Gain bonus points for playing with clan mates or finishing more challenging activities.
Xur continues to sell even more gear outside his usual content. In addition to his normal exotic gear, Xur now has Legendary Weapons and Armor for sale in exchange for Legendary Shards and Glimmer.

Phoenix Protocol - Warlock chest armor
Exotic Perk:
Battle-Hearth - Kills and assists players make while standing in your Well of Radiance return Super energy.
As a “super refund” exotic, Pheonix Protocol is a solid pickup this week, especially with the stats roll. It can be used in certain builds to be very effective in Raids and GMs, helping team survivability and allowing the player to gain their super back much faster than normal.

St0mp-EE5 - Hunter leg armor
Hydraulic Boosters - Increases sprint speed and slide distance while your dodge energy is full and improves High Jump, Strafe Jump, and Triple Jump.

For the Stompees, mobility is really the best stat to have since they’re intended more for platforming style challenges. The roll is solid and for those attempting some of the more platform heavy activities inDestiny 2, these are more than worth a look this week.
Armamentarium - Titan chest armor

And Another Thing - Gain an additional grenade charge.
While not the most exciting exotic Titans could be using, the Armamentarium is certainly useful in granting a second melee charge. The only thing really holding this item back this week is the roll, which is on the lower side even though Resilience and Discipline are the two highest stats.
Stat Values (62 total):
Exotic Weapon
Originallyintroduced inside of the Forsaken expansion, the Cerberus+1 is an auto rifle that acts more like a shotgun. The reason for this is due to its intrinsic perk called Four-Headed Dog which causes the gun to shoot erratic bullets from all four gun barrels when fired. However, the players gains a bit more control over where these shots go thanks to its exotic trait, Spread Shot Package. Aiming the weapon also reduces the projectile spread.
For most players, the Cerberus is a fun weapon to play around with, though it behaves more like a fully automatic shotgun using primary ammo. While this weapon isn’t terribly accurate at range, it’s more than capable at shredding enemies who get too close. Still, it’s not a must own exotic, but it can be fun to mess around with for certain activities.

Hawkmoon Rolls
At this point,Xur is only selling Hawkmoon with randomized rolls, but its time is limited once Harbinger is ultimately added to the Exotic Mission Rotator and makes the hand cannon craftable. Either way, here is the roll Xur has this weekend:
