Destiny 2received a new update today, and while it included some new content and bug fixes, it also caused a serious issue. After downloading the latestDestiny 2update, many players found that their Glimmer was gone, along with various other resources and materials in their inventory. Considering the severity of this bug, Bungie has decided to take theDestiny 2servers down while it works on a fix to the problem.

Bungie has been keeping fans updated through its social media accounts. It stated that it believes it has figured out why this bug happened, and it is actively working on a fix. The BungieHelp Twitter account has promised that it will provide an update toDestiny 2players by 1pm Pacific time. However, that doesn’t mean that the fix will be released at that point, so fans shouldn’t count on theDestiny 2servers going back up by then.

SinceGlimmer is the primary currency forDestiny 2, players losing their Glimmer is a serious issue. We will update this post when Bungie has announced that the problem has been fixed and theDestiny 2servers are back online.

This isn’t the only bug that has impactedDestiny 2lately. Though not nearly as big of a deal, there was aDestiny 2immunity glitchthat allowed players to solo raid bosses. However, bugs are usually not that big of a problem withDestiny 2and its community.

WhatDestiny 2is really struggling with keeping its playerbase consistently engaged, with some blaming that on its seasonal format. Like many other live service games,Destiny 2has seasons that players can participate in for a limited time. Some feel that this focus on seasons has ruined the pacing of the game, and that the content released during the seasons just isn’t compelling enough. One former Bungie employeeexplained it like this: “In D1 I wanted to play more but there wasn’t anything to do. In D2 there’s a lot to do but I don’t want to play anymore.”

Destiny 2has been the subject of some criticism since its launch, and major technical issues like the one currently plaguing the game certainly don’t help things. HopefullyBungieis able to fix the problem and get the servers back up so thatDestiny 2enthusiasts can get back to their game.

Destiny 2is out now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
