Video game developerBungiehas announced a temporary fix for Iron Rain, a sub-quest in the Iron Banner event that has been causing much frustration for someDestiny 2players.
Although the development team at Bungie hasn’t yet decided whether it will change or remove the Iron Rain rocket launcher sub-quest for next season, it has added a temporary workaround to the game that will auto-complete that specific portion of the Light the Fires quest for any player who hasn’t finished it yet.

There are a number of bounties or quests to complete during the Iron Banner event, giving players the chance to earn exclusive Iron Banner weapons and armor. The Light the Fires mission has a sub-quest called Iron Rain that calls for participants to land ten final blows on an opponent with a rocket launcher, and this requirement has led tonumerousDestiny 2player complaintson forums and social media.
Attempts to obtain the requisite number of kills for the sub-quest has led to heavy camping by some players. And even those who forego camping and attempt to complete the sub-quest during normal gameplay often find that they complete an entire match without having the opportunity to justifiably use a rocket launcher. According to posts on variousDestiny 2forums, this has resulted in some players being forced to grind through 10 to 15 competitive matches just to complete the rocket launcher sub-quest. Also, Guardians who enterDestiny 2Iron Bannermatches with a primary objective of completing Iron Rain can sometimes end up being considered a hindrance to their team, whose only goal is to win the match.
The Iron Banner is a limited timeDestiny 2Crucible eventthat occurs once a month and lasts for a week, giving players the chance to face off against one another in competitive 6-v-6 matches. In normal Crucible events, weapons and abilities scale so that all Guardians have the same defense and attack. In the Iron Banner, however, this is not the case. Level advantages are enabled, attack rating determines the amount of damage inflicted, defense rating determines the amount of damage taken, and players with the highest light level have a distinct advantage. For this reason, while anyone over level 20 can participate, it’s recommended to be as close to the level cap as possible.
The nextDestiny 2Iron Banner eventis scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. on January 21 and will run through July 03, 2025, when the weekly server reset occurs.
