WhileDestiny 2developer Bungie is soon to launch itsnext major expansion, Lightfall, the community is currently in preparation mode. Some are stockpiling bounties to maximize their Artifact Level gains right out of the gate, while others are trying to secure a few weapon patterns from past seasons before they are seemingly gone forever.
But many may have noticed that a large portion of theDestiny 2community is farming the Nightfall Strike this week and hunting the Wendigo GL3 Grenade Launcher. It’s a weapon with a bit of history withinDestiny 2, and one that could become essential for endgame content in Lightfall.

Why Destiny 2 Players are Farming Wendigo GL3 Grenade Launcher
The obsession with Wendigo revolves around a few key things. For starters, it was one of the more popular ritual weapons inDestiny 2circa 2019. Wendigo featured one of the strongest perk combinations in the game, and for a time, it was one of the best boss DPS (damage per second) options.
For Season of the Seraph, Wendigo GL3 has returned as a Nightfall Reward with random rolls. At first, mostDestiny 2players didn’t think much of grinding for Wendigo beyond acquiring one for the nostalgia factor. But then aBungie blog postrevealed that grenade launchers would be getting a 20% PvE damage buff against major combatants and a 40% PvE damage buff against minor combatants in Lightfall and everything changed. Wendigo seemed poised to be one of the best options for boss DPS yet again.

Wendigo Grenade Launcher Best Perks for God Roll
There is some slight debate about what is the “god roll” for Wendigo GL3 but most are in agreement thatDestiny 2players will want:
Some believe that Cascade Point could be a good substitute for Explosive Light because it increases rate of fire and potentially increases DPS, but Explosive Light is the best perk to target in our opinion. That being said, might be worth it to hold onto a roll with Cascade Point, just in case.

Warden of Nothing Best Weapons, Mods, Subclass Choices
For farming, it helps that the current Nightfall Strike that offers Wendigo is the Warden of Nothing, one of the easier strikes in all ofDestiny 2. Depending on team composition and skill level, theGrandmaster Nightfall version of Warden of Nothingcan be completed in about 15-20 minutes, provided that players are coordinated and prepared.
In terms of Kinetic and Elemental weapons, the fireteam will want to diversify its loadout. Because there are all three types of champions in Warden of Nothing, we recommend ensuring that the fireteam has two unstoppable weapons, two overload weapons, and two anti-barrier weapons spread between them. The only elemental shields that the team will have to deal with are void shields so make sure at least one player has a void weapon or is on a void subclass.

Some good choices for weapons in the first two slots are:
Of course, these are just some recommendations, but teams can make any loadout work for their primary options. As long as the weapon packs a bunch and can be fired at a decent distance - bonus if it is void or solar - then it will work.
With solar burn as one of the modifiers on the Warden of Nothing Nightfall Strike,Destiny 2players have a few choices when it comes to their heavy weapon. TheGjallarhorn exotic rocket launcheris an obvious selection because it can pack big damage on a single target as well as clear out a group with a single rocket. Truthfully, any solar rocket launcher will do the trick. For a little twist, one player can run aBump in the Night rocket launcher with Chill Clipto use the Gjallarhorn’s Pack Hunter buff to create very damaging Stasis explosions.
If they don’t want to go with rockets, Destiny 2 players also can’t go wrong with a solar linear fusion rifle like Cataclysmic, which comes from theVow of the Disciple raid. It takes some setup, but the Bait and Switch perk on Cataclysmic is very strong and will make quick work of the Servitor boss in Warden of Nothing.
In terms of subclass choices,Destiny 2players can’t go wrong with the old standbys. Hunters should run Nightstalker to have access to invisibility in case they need to make a sneaky revive. Warlocks should use Well of Radiance for protection at key moments, especially during the mine defusal section. And Titans are met with a dealer’s choice -Arc for the Storm Grenade ad clear, Solar for throwing hammers and survivability, or Void for using the bubble and overshield to protect the whole team at key moments.
We also encourage as many fireteam members to run the Lucent Finisher artifact mod on their class item to ensure the heavy ammo is constantly dropping. That way all three of them can let the Gjallarhorn rockets fly and then replenish ammo reserves almost immediately.
How to Farm Warden of Nothing Grandmaster Nightfall Strike
Most of the Warden of Nothing strike is fairly straightforward, but there are two main chokepoints. The section with the Hydra and the two trains passing horizontally through the room. Here, we recommend letting rockets and grenades do the heavy lifting; there are plenty of champions to replenish ammo within the next section.
The mine section is the other big chokepoint because it forces the team to stand in one spot for a bit of time. Here is where the Warlock’s Well, the Titan’s Ward of Dawn, and the Hunter’s invisibility will come in handy. The main focus should be on clearing the mines as quickly as possible, but also ensuring that the Anti-Barrier Champion and Unstoppable Champion that spawn on the far side of the arena (one from the door near A mine and one near the B mine) are defeated before the mine section completes. The Overload champion can be ignored; it will de-spawn but will not count against a Platinum score.
Finally, the boss room should be tackled in two parts. Head down the tube but don’t jump across. Take out as many of the champions from a distance, leaving one or two for Lucent Finisher if needed. Once those four champions are defeated, the boss will arrive and the fireteam should unload everything they have. Focus on the boss with everything available and it should go down before the second phase of the fight begins. Roughly 3-4 rockets per Guardian or a healthy set of Linear Fusion Rifle shots will do the trick.
Ideally, theDestiny 2strike should be complete with about 15-20 minutes on the timer and since it’s a Grandmaster then that means a guaranteed Wendigo GL3 Adept drop. Now it’s all about refining the strategy and timing to farm for that perfect god roll Wendigo grenade launcher.
