There already seems to be no shortage of news aboutDestiny 2’s upcoming Season of the Deep, which is due to launch on May 23. However, more information about the balancing side of things is pouring in still, sometimes even through unofficial channels from the developers themselves.

While Bungie may have aDestiny 2controversy waiting to happenin Season 21, it’s not all bad news. The studio recently put out a comprehensive overview of all the weapon tuning and Exotic changes coming in, and the community has been fairly receptive to most of them, but it would seem that there’s plenty more to go still.

Notably,Destiny 2senior designers Chris Proctor and Rodney Thompson have talked to the hosts of Destiny Massive Breakdowns, a community service and podcast dedicated specifically to discussing and breaking down all the different balancing changes in the live version of the game. The devs talked with the staff for an hour and a half, allowing them to cover many different topics. Some highlights include Bungie’s difficulties in buffing sniper rifles in PvE content, as the devs claim it’s really easy to overdo it. They also revealed an all-new rocket launcher perk, Bipod, though they didn’t detail its effects.

Bungie devs also looked back at the possibility thatDestiny 2’s Last Wish gear refreshmay finally be happening. Of course, neither of them was willing to state outright whether this would really happen in Season 21, but Proctor did hint that there’d be something new in this regard. Implementing the new Bipod perk so that it drops on the raid’s Apex Predator rocket launcher would certainly make things interesting, however.

As there arehuge changes inDestiny 2’s Power Level systemslated for Season 21, it’s virtually impossible to say what the game’s meta might look like in just a few weeks' time. Veteran players should have much to look forward to, however, considering all the information that Bungie has been putting out as of late.

There are leaks to take into account, too, albeit with a handful of salt. One of the weirdest leaks posted yet claims thatDestiny 2is getting fishingto go along with the Season of the Deep, for example. There’s no telling whether this is right or not just yet, of course, but the good news is that Season 21 will launch very soon, making it clear which leaks were right and which were incorrect all along.

Destiny 2is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
