Demon Slayeris one of the best shonen anime running right now, featuring a wealth of great characters and amazing fight scenes that look even more awe-inspiring courtesy of Ufotable’s stellar animation, which has skyrocketed the show’s popularity to new heights. It’s a series that doesn’t show any signs of slowing down and losing steam, with more and more fans losing their minds to the hype every single time a new season ofDemon Slayeris announced.

The Swordsmith Village arc wasted no time in introducing the main conflict, forcing the Hashira along with Genya and Tanjiro to fight for their lives whilesaving the lives of the people who forge their Nichirin Swords. Many characters in the series have been introduced, although some of them feel like wasted potential given how great the writing in the show is otherwise.

8Sakonji Urokodaki

Sakonji has a pretty strong introduction early on in the show when it’s revealed thathe’s a master of the Water Breathing styleand even used to be a Hashira at one point. He taught many powerful demon slayers about this Breathing Style, including the current Hashira Giyu Tomioka and Tanjiro Kamado as well!

However, while he’s talented as a swordsman, fans don’t really get to see him fighting against any powerful demon. It’s a shame since seeing one of the strongest Water Breathing users decimate demons with his skills would be a treat to witness.

7Jigoro Kuwajima

A former Hashira whotaught Zenitsu in the ways of Thunder Breathing, Jigoro is another character who seemed pretty powerful. He was clearly skilled in the ways of the sword, given how strong Zenitsu is despite only knowing the first form of this technique.

However, just like Sakonji, Jigoro doesn’t show his skills against any other demon, with viewers having to stay content with descriptions of his legendary skill instead of seeing it in action. The fact that his other student, Kaigaku, became a demon after losing to Kokushibo was a source of great shame for him, causing him to commit seppuku in the process.

6Shinjuro Rengoku

Kyojuro Rengoku isone of the most impressive characters on the show, proving his mettle against a powerful demon like Akaza and putting his life on the line despite knowing that fighting an Upper Rank Three was hopeless. Eventually, he lost his life in one ofDemon Slayer’s best arcs, showing just how scary and powerful the Demon Moons were.

Many people expected his father to be a respectable figure…only for him to turn out to be an abusive drunk who became disillusioned with the act of being a demon slayer and actively chastised his respectable son for embarking on this noble path. While he does redeem himself somewhat with an emotional acknowledgment of his deceased son, that still doesn’t take away from how much of a waste his character is.

5Murata

Not all demon slayers need to be strong, since everyone can’t be gifted swordsmen who have the means to take out powerful demons through sheer force of will. However, even after considering all this, Murata is still such a frustrating character to watch because of how ineffective he is in his role.

Most people wonderwhy he even bothered to be a demon slayer in the first placeif the sight of these scary monsters caused him to turn tail and flee instead of standing his ground. He plays a pretty minor role in the show that is so negligible that it would make no difference if his character didn’t even exist!

4Rokuro

After Rui’s defeat at the hand of the Water Hashira, Muzan was incensed. He realized that the only demons worth keeping around himwere the Upper Rank Demon Moons, with the rest being killed off unceremoniously by the Demon King in a fit of rage.

This included Rokuro too, who begged Muzan to spare him by giving him some of the Demon King’s blood to become stronger. Muzan took this the wrong way, assuming that Rokuro was trying to order him before unceremoniously killing him off.

3Wakuraba

It’s a shame that more of the Lower Rank Demon Moonsdidn’t get a chance to show off their powerssince they could’ve proven to be substantial obstacles for Tanjiro and the other fledgling demon slayers to overcome. Instead, they were merely used to show just how savage Muzan could be.

Wakuraba is another Lower Rank Demon Moon who saw the slaughter of his brethren and decided to escape instead of trying to reason with Muzan. This turned out to be a fatal mistake, with Muzan making quick work of his cowardly underling.

2Mukago

Mukago is another Lower Rank Demon Moon who met her demise at the hands of Muzan. She pleaded over and over again, saying that she never feared the Hashira and would try and fight them if the situation called for it.

However, the Demon King had the power to read minds and instantly recognized that Mukago was lying. Incensed that his subordinate would lie to her so shamelessly, Muzan wasted no time in devouring this demon before she even had a chance to escape.

1Kamanue

The weakest Lower Rank Demon Moon, Kamanue, was also the most foolish of the lot. While Muzan was chastising the demons for failing to improve their powers by devouring humans, this insubordinate demon thought just how unfair the Demon King’s demands were.

His thoughts were promptly read by Muzan, who made an example of him by making him the first victim during his massacre of the Lower Ranks. For what it’s worth, this demon was weaker than Rui, meaning that he wouldn’t really pose a major threat to the Hashira…or even Tanjiro and his friends, for that matter!
