Isaac Clarke’s suits have always been a popular part ofDead Space, even if they are only mostly important from a cosmetic standpoint. Suits that players find schematics for in the originalDead Spaceand even Motive’s remake are hardly different from one another besides having more metal rivets lining it, but their benefit is seen in how much the player’s inventory inflates with each subsequent suit purchased and equipped. Suits then become drastically different from one another infutureDead Spaceinstallments, at least visually.

Motive’sDead Spaceaccentuates profound detail in Isaac’s suits with a couple neat tricks: suits can be caked in blood and glisten, and they can also have a wet look once players return from zero-gravity and the suits thaw out. However, Motive’sDead Spacedoes not only have these five narrative-locked suits. There is a sixth suit players receive for having beaten the game that is intended for New Game Plus runs since it offers a 30 percent defense increase, and if fans had opted forDead Space’s Deluxe editionthey will also have access to a handful of suits and suit textures.

TheDead Spaceremake’s three unique suits offered in the Deluxe edition are the Infested suit, the Lone Survivor Suit, and the Venture suit. These all have starkly different looks, withthe Infested suit being an interpretation on what Isaac would look like if he was a mutated necromorphwith entrails spilling out of cracked ribs and bones protruding from different parts of his body.

There are also two unique suit textures: a Bloody texture which gives Isaac the look of being perpetually caked in blood, and the Sanctified texture which paints the suit black and has Marker symbols scrawled all over it in what looks like white and red chalk. Each of these suits is technically a cosmetic that reskins the player’s purchased suit—though the skins labeled as textures are only applied on top ofIsaac’s default RIG suit—and is a great incentive for fans to check out the Deluxe edition. However, while each of these options is phenomenal in terms of detail and fidelity, the Infested suit has one detail in particular that distinguishes it apart from the rest.

As mentioned before, the Infected suit is a gnarly rendition of body horror spilling out from Isaac’s suit. This in-and-of itself is diverse and creative, but there is a hidden detail about it thatDead Spaceplayers may never find if they only wore it for a short period of time. If players wear this suit into a scene where Isaac removes his helmet, it will be revealed that this suit leaves him decapitated.

This results in grisly, yet amusing imagery as Isaac interacts with Hammond and others without a head, and fans can see that his head is actually jammed within the helmet itself. This detail is so striking that fans even believed it was a bug at launch, but it is indeed intended and therefore a wonderful but missable detail. It is worth wearing the Infested suit if for no other reason than to see this, making it a detail that takes the aesthetic a step further. If Motive ever gets its hands onDead Space 2orDead Space 3in the future, it will be incredible to see what other creative suit details it can come up with.

Dead Spaceis available now on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
