To start the quest for unlocking the Crab Trap inDave the Diver, travel to the Sea Village and speak withDuwain his Blacksmithing Workshop. Duwa is suffering from a persistent cough and seeks a remedy.
After your chat with Duwa, head over to Mima’s Restaurant and speak withMima. Mima recommends creating a dish with Horsehair Crabs to alleviate Duwa’s cough, though she warns that they are difficult to catch. Your next step is to head to the surface andconsultOttoat the crop farm, who informs you that catching the Horsehair Crab requires a Crab Trap.

Otto agrees to construct a Crab Trap for you, but he needs specific materials:3 Lumber, 2 Scrap Iron, 2 Rope,and1 Tiger Shark Tooth. Gather these items and return them to Otto; he will then provide you with theCrab Trap. With this new tool in hand, you’re ready to start catching Crab and Lobster inDave the Diver.
How to Use the Crab Trap in Dave the Diver
To deploy a Crab Trap and catch Horsehair Crab, head to the Glacial Area and search for bubbling rocks. Once a suitable crevice is located, interact with it to set the Crab Trap, add bait, and wait for a bit. The effectiveness of Crab Traps depends on the bait used, so the rank of the fish used as bait should be considered when targeting specific crustaceans. Generally speaking, higher ranked bait will lure higher rank Crab and Lobster.
After setting the bait, you’re free to explore other areas and come back later to see what you’ve caught. Your trap’s location is marked by an arrow on the edge of your screen, and a green check mark will appear when something is caught. Remember to collect your catch from the Crab Traps before heading back to the surface to avoid losing them.

After successfully trapping a Horsehair Crab, return to the Sea People Village and deliver it to Mima. She will prepare a Steamed Horsehair Crab dish and set it outside her restaurant. Collect the dish off the ground and carry it to Duwa’s Workshop. Once inside, present the dish to Duwa, who in return will express his gratitude by giving you 150 Bei and 1 Divine Tree Fruit Fragment.
How to Upgrade the Crab Trap in Dave the Diver
After unlocking the Crab Trap, you have the option to enhance it via the iDiver app. The Crab Trap can be upgraded twice, reaching its maximum capability at Level 3. At this level, you’re able to deploy three Crab Traps simultaneously on a single dive. The cost for theinitial upgrade is 4,500 gold, while the second and final upgrade will set you back 9,200 gold.
What Can You Catch in Crab Traps in Dave the Diver
There are 14 different species of Crab and Lobster that can be caught in Crab Traps. You cannot catch larger Crab such as Spider Crabs, which will still require the use ofa Net Gun or other weapon inDave the Diverto successfully snare.
