Daredevil: Born AgainandPenguinare the latest shows that impacted the WGA Strike. The writers want increased pay, as nearly half of them are paid minimum wage, according to the WGA. Additionally, writers get paid residuals for shows that went into syndication and would receive payment whenever the shows were being rerun. Due to how streaming services work under their old contract, writers are not earning residuals for streamed shows. Along with many other issues, one of the more prominent ones is AI usage. The WGA would like to work out safeguards so that AI is used sparingly.

Now the big studios are starting to feel the pressure, asDeadlinereports Disney has halted production onDaredevil: Born Again, and Warner Bros. has suspended production ofThe Penguin. Neither show will resume production until the writers' strike ends. This is the third time thatDaredevil: Born Againhas shut down production. Additionally, Colin Farell has joined the writers in a picket line outside Paramount in Times Square.
Daredevil: Born Againis a revival of Netflix’sDaredevilseries, which was canceled in 2018 with the other Netflix Marvel shows. The 18-episode Disney Plus series will follow Charlie Cox reprising his role as Matthew Murdock. Cox has recently appeared as Daredevil inSpider-Man: No Way HomeandShe-Hulk. The series will also see Jon Bernthal return as The Punisher andVincent D’Onofrio return as Kingpin.
The Penguinis a spin-off seriesto Matt Reeves' The Batmanand will stream on Max. The series will see Farrell’s The Penguin rise to power in Gotham City. This series and Reeves' movies are not connected to the DCU. There is no idea when the writers’ strike will end, so it may be a while until both shows can resume production.
