Cyberpunk 2077was officially added to the list of Steam Deck Verified games. In the past, gamers have triedplayingCyberpunk 2077on the Steam Deckwith seemingly steady framerate, but this is the first time Valve gave it the “Verified” tag.
Released in 2020,Cyberpunk 2077is said to be a hardware-intensive game because of its open-world setting and graphics-heavy gameplay. It follows a mercenary named V as they explore and accomplish missions in the future dystopian city called Night City in California. Although the game seemed to have run smoothly on the Steam Deck last year, many players thought that it could still be optimized better.

Following last year’s news that CD Projekt Redsecretly added Steam Deck optimized settings toCyberpunk 2077, it was announced on Twitter that the game was officially verified for Steam Deck compatibility. This meant that the game passed Valve’s assessment that tested the game’s functionality using the Steam Deck’s default controller configuration, the in-game text’s visibility on the handheld console, and whether the game’s default graphics configuration performed well. Players who already hadCyberpunk 2077in their Steam Library can instantly run the game on the Steam Deck.
Manyfans expressed their happiness and excitement to play the game while on the go, while some said that they might finally get a Steam Deck. Meanwhile, a few said thatCyberpunk 2077should be played on a bigger screen and not a Steam Deck to get the full open-world experience. This console update also comes just in time with therelease of thePhantom LibertyDLCcoming this year.
Cyberpunk 2077had a rocky start due to its performance issues upon launch, but it still saw success as CD Projekt Red addressed the glitches in its patch updates. With the premiere of Netflix’sCyberpunk: Edgerunnerslast year,Cyberpunk 2077hit an impressive sales milestonein a short period of time as many players bought and downloaded the game to experience Night City for themselves.
