Now, Massive Monster has explained that the company will not actually pullCult of the Lambfrom the stores. According to a new video, the whole threat was nothing more than a joke made on Twitter, and the story grew out of proportion quickly, so the team felt the need to clarify it. However, Massive Monster also reiterated that the company is against Unity’s decision. The development team would need to learn a whole new skill set to port the game out of Unity’s engine in case they needed to change it, and these new fees affect the whole gaming industry in a negative way.
Massive Monster also used the opportunity to say that the team is still working very hard to create the next major content update for the title, which does not have an official release date yet. Previously, Massive Monster released theRelic of the Old Faith update forCult of the Lamb, which improved the game in several ways.
Unity’s decision was felt all over the gaming industry. While not many studios are talking about deleting their games, some of them are at least considering not using Unity’s engine anymore, which is the case of the developers ofRust. According to Facepunch Studios, apossible sequel ofRustwill not use Unity, as the team does not have trust in the company running the popular engine anymore. Other developers share similar opinions at the moment, so it remains to be seen how Unity will react.
