A new PlayStation 5 owner ran into trouble recently when trying to redeem the digital download code forHorizon Forbidden Westthat came with their system. The rise of digital gaming has seen the industry largely move away from physical media whenever possible. Years ago,video game console bundleswould have included a physical disc for gamers to use, but nowadays, many bundles come with digital download codes instead.
This is the case with theHorizon Forbidden WestPS5 bundle. Regardless if one is getting a PS5 with a disc drive or thePS5 Digital Edition, they will get a voucher that includes aHorizon Forbidden Westdownload code as opposed to a physical copy of the game. This was recently discovered by Reddit user Kazuko_Kistune, who ran into some trouble when attempting to redeem their code for the game.

After scratching off their voucher, Kazuko_Kitsune discovered that their code forHorizon Forbidden Westwas illegible. They turned to the Reddit gaming community for advice, with many users suggesting that Kazuko_Kitsune contact PlayStation customer support to resolve the problem. Before Kazuko_Kitsune could get that far, fellow Reddit user Biohazard_186 stepped up and gave Kazuko_Kitsune another code for the game. Others attempted to redeem the code from the ruined voucher using the letters and numbers they could read, and claim to have been successful in doing so.
Horizon Forbidden Westis one of the highest-rated new video game releases of 2022 and is one of the most critically acclaimed games on the PlayStation 5, period.Horizon Forbidden West’s positive receptionis a big part of the reason why Sony made the decision to start bundling the game with the PS5 console, though it should be pointed out that the game is technically a cross-gen release that’s also available for PS4.
Some were surprised when Sony announced a PS5 console bundle that included a copy of a game, as the company has not exactly been having trouble selling consoles. In fact, it’s had the exact opposite problem, with the console manufacturerstruggling to produce enough PS5 systemsto keep up with demand. A variety of other factors have also made PS5 supply virtually nonexistent in many markets, including the ongoing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, scalpers, and chip shortages.
Sony is hoping to increase PS5 supplyfor the holiday season, and if that supply includes theHorizon Forbidden Westbundles, potential customers should be extra careful when scratching off their vouchers.
